Ticks

We found a tick on one of the dogs today not nice creatures. We managed to remove it and the head was still attached, so not a problem today but ticks can carry Lyme disease, which can be very nasty if not treated.

Ticks are a small spider like creatures that can be difficult to spot due to their size. They are typically reddish, dark brown or black in colour and can vary in size from a poppy seed to a sesame seed or swell as big as a coffee bean after feeding. They attach to pets especially around the head, neck ears and feet. Ticks are generally most active during spring and summer months. If you’re ever unsure whether it is a tick or how to deal with a tick, seek veterinarian advice. Photo of said tick found on the muzzle (near the mouth) of one of our dogs today.
