Cattery Assistant 😺
Job Overview
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and genuinely cat-loving Cattery Assistant to join our team.
This is a hands-on role involving both cleaning duties and direct care of our feline guests, along with plenty of interaction, attention and affection. The role combines practical responsibilities with day-to-day animal care in a busy but rewarding environment.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working closely with animals and is enthusiastic about being involved in their daily care and wellbeing. Every cat has its own personality and needs, and we take pride in making sure each one feels safe, comfortable and well looked after during their stay.
Main Duties
* Feeding and caring for cats throughout the day
* Cleaning litter trays, cat pens and communal areas to a high standard
* Providing cats with attention, affection and reassurance
* Monitoring each cat’s health, behaviour, appetite and general wellbeing
* Administering medication and injections when required — full training will be provided
* Reporting any concerns promptly to management
* Welcoming customers and assisting with arrivals and collections
* Answering basic queries and reassuring owners that their cats are safe, well cared for, and in good hands, while remaining friendly and respectful
* Assisting with bookings and the day-to-day organisation and smooth running of the cattery
* Checking stock levels of food, litter, cleaning products and other supplies
* Helping maintain a clean, organised and welcoming environment
The Person We’re Looking For
You must have a genuine passion for cats and their wellbeing.
Previous experience with animals is an advantage, but not essential as full training will be provided.
You should be:
* Reliable, punctual and responsible
* Caring, patient and confident around cats
* Happy working independently and as part of a team
* Able to use initiative and common sense
* Detail-oriented with high standards of cleanliness
* Comfortable working in a busy environment
* Friendly and approachable with customers
* Willing to learn about feline health and behaviour
* Confident to administer medication and injections after training
* Someone who takes pride in providing excellent care every day
You will need to be flexible and available to work weekends and busy holiday periods, including Christmas and New Year. We’re unable to accommodate holiday requests during our busiest periods.
A possible job-share arrangement may be available for the right applicants.
