With temperatures soaring this week, we asked the animals of Taylor Vets for their top tips on staying cool. Here's what they had to say...
Dogs Gordy, Rufus, Bronwen and Sebby : "Get yourself a paddling pool. Sit in it"
💦 A shallow paddling pool can be a great way for dogs to cool off. Not all dogs enjoy water, so let them choose.
Jeremy the cat: "I've moved onto my cooling mat and I'd appreciate it if nobody disturbed me until September."
❄️ Cooling mats, cool floors and shaded rooms can all help pets regulate their temperature.
Posy the jack russell pup: "Frozen treats. That's it. That's the tip."
🧊 Frozen enrichment toys, ice cubes and pet-safe frozen treats can help keep dogs occupied and cool.
Rocco & John: "An iced stock cube shot from the blender. Trust me on this one."
🥣 Low-salt pet-safe stock blended with water and ice.
Otis & Minnie: "We walk early and go on a 'Sniffari' (where we sniff every blade of grass for at least 10 secs). The rest of the day is for napping."
🌳 If you do need to go out, stick to the coolest parts of the day and seek out shade wherever possible.
Indie the lab: "Fan on. Football"
💨Good airflow can make a real difference indoors, especially in rooms that tend to get warm.
Steve the cat: "My advice? Let it all air out."
😹 Cats will often seek out a cool place themselves. Sometimes the best thing we can do is leave them to lounge in peace.
Now, we want to see YOUR pets TOP TIPS!
