Is anyone able to become a trustee or offer any sort of help for this little rescue and help them take the next step in becoming a charity

🐴 BIG NEWS: Help Odd Socks Stables take the next step! 🌟
As many of you know, we’re caring for 9 wonderful rescue horses here at the yard, and we’ve already helped 5 lovely ponies find new homes. So far, we’ve funded their care from our own pockets, with a helping hand from our community through jumble sales, car boots and eBay tack auctions. Every bit of support means so much to us—and to the horses! ❤️
Now we’re ready to take the next step and apply for charity status for Odd Socks Stables! 🧦🐴 We want to give our rescues a more secure future and build on everything we’ve achieved so far—but we need a little more support to help us get there.
One of the biggest things we need is a team of trustees to help us move forward. We’re looking for at least three friendly, reliable people who care about our horses and would like to be part of this next chapter. You don’t need to have all the answers or a specialist background—just a willingness to learn, share ideas and take on the responsibilities of being a trustee. If that sounds like you, we’d love to have a relaxed, informal chat! ❤️
You don’t need to be able to muck out at 6 AM (unless you want to!). We welcome people who simply want to help make a difference, as well as those who can bring specific skills to our monthly or quarterly meetings:
📊 A Numbers Person: Someone with basic bookkeeping, accounting, or administrative experience to help keep our paperwork pristine.
📱 A Community/Digital Cheerleader: Someone who loves fundraising, sorting through donated tack, or helping us grow our online community.
🦄 An Equine Ally: A knowledgeable horse person (perhaps a vet nurse, or experienced owner) who can provide sound welfare advice.
❤️ General Trustees: A passion for making a difference
Not a numbers person, a digital whizz or an equine expert? That’s absolutely fine! We’d also love to hear from caring, reliable people who believe in what we do and want to help build a brighter future for our rescue horses. You don’t need a specialist background to bring valuable ideas, everyday experience and a fresh perspective.
As a general trustee, you’ll join the rest of the board in discussing plans, asking questions and making thoughtful decisions in the charity’s best interests. What matters is a willingness to learn about your trustee responsibilities, take part in meetings and work together to help our rescues thrive. If you’ve been thinking “I just want to help and make a difference”, we’d love to have an informal chat! 🐴🧦
🎉 Fundraising & Donation Organisers
Love organising events, finding a new home for pre-loved tack, or bringing people together for a good cause? We’d also love to hear from volunteers who can help organise our jumble sales, car boots and online tack auctions, coordinate donated items, and come up with fresh fundraising ideas to support our rescue horses. 🐴❤️
Whether you can help at an occasional sale or regularly sort, photograph and list donations, every bit of support makes a difference. You don’t need to become a trustee to lend a hand—just drop us a private message and let us know how you’d like to get involved!
For trustee applicants, please note: Due to Charity Commission rules on conflicts of interest, trustees must be unpaid volunteers, and we cannot accept close family members or anyone who currently draws an income/wage from the yard.
If you love what we do, want to be a vital part of our future, and can spare a couple of hours a month for a coffee and a meeting (in person or via Zoom), we would love to hear from you!
👉 Drop us a private message on the page or comment below if you’d like to have an informal chat about what’s involved.
Thank you all so much for your ongoing support—we couldn't do this without you! 🧦❤️
