We have removed the post about Oreo as we recognise that emotions and feelings are running high.

This remains an ongoing and complex situation which we are continuing to monitor closely. At this time, we will not be making any further comments.

🐾 Update on Oreo 🐾

This little boy’s name is Oreo. He’s now got all the medication he needs to make a recovery ❤️

The owner has been given a vet appointment for one week’s time and has been advised that Oreo must stay indoors and not be allowed outside until he has fully recovered.

We’ve asked for regular updates and have also offered to help with giving his medication if needed. We’ll post another update once Oreo is fully recovered.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped, shared, and showed concern for Oreo — your support is truly appreciated 🖤

🚨 URGENT APPEAL – DOES ANYONE RECOGNISE THIS CAT? 🚨

This little boy is currently with us at Lothian Cat Rescue after being found in the woods at Oxgangs wearing this cone. 💔

He is in a great deal of pain with his eyes, ears and face and is desperately trying to claw at himself. Our vets have started pain relief, steroids and creams for his eyes, ears and skin, but he has a long road ahead of him.

We are pleading for anyone who may know this cat, or who has any information about how he ended up in this condition, to please come forward. Even the smallest bit of information could help us understand what he has been through and get him the care he needs.

Please share far and wide so we can reach anyone who may recognise him. 🙏

We at Lothian Cat Rescue would like to say a huge thank you to Melville Housing Association for choosing us as one of their supported charities and for sponsoring one of our pens.

We truly appreciate the generous donation and support — it means so much to us and helps us continue caring for cats in need.

Run free at Rainbow Bridge our beautiful boy Munro. 🌈🐾

Munro came to us as a very shy and frightened boy who trusted nobody. After only a few months, one of our long-term volunteers had slowly fallen in love with him, spending lots of quality time gaining his trust and seeing beyond his fear. It was clear they were the perfect match for each other.

Munro finally found his forever home and they spent many happy years together. Sadly, at only 10 years old, Munro was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and heartbreakingly lost his battle.

Our thoughts are with his mum Mary, who now has a huge paw-shaped hole in her heart.

Run free, beautiful boy. You were so very loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew you. ❤️

🍫 Life is like a Box of Chocolates 🍫

Although we feel these little ones need very little introduction after already finding themselves featured in The Courier, Edinburgh Live, The Evening News, and even making their TV debut on STV News last night! We’d officially like to welcome:

🤎 Fredo
🤎 Aero
🤎 KitKat
🤎 Twix
🤎 Twirl
🤎 Snickers
🤎 Wispa
🤎 Buttons

These tiny kittens have been in our care for the past week after being discovered abandoned in a cardboard box in Kirkcaldy. They were cold, weak, incredibly hungry, and covered in fleas when another rescue brought them into our care.

Thankfully, our amazing foster team were already waiting on standby with the incubator prepared and ready to go. ❤️

We have 6 girls and 2 boys in the litter, and while they had a slow and worrying start, over the last week they’ve all developed fantastic appetites and have started gaining weight rapidly. They’re now thriving, full of personality, and very enthusiastic whenever milk is on offer!

We’re finding it quite funny that despite them arriving with us last Tuesday, we somehow seem to be the last ones to formally post about them 😅

Yesterday was also a huge milestone for the kittens, as they officially graduated from the incubator into a pen of their own, giving them room to properly stretch their legs, wobble around, and start exploring the world around them. It’s a really exciting stage in their development, and the next big step before they eventually move onto solid food.

To get them to this point, our volunteer foster team have been feeding them every three hours around the clock, day and night. We honestly couldn’t be prouder of the progress they’ve made in such a short space of time. ❤️

We’ve already been blown away by the love and support shown by both our local community and cat lovers further afield. As always with cases like this, we’ve received a huge number of adoption enquiries already, however these kittens are still far too young to be considered for adoption, and we will not be accepting applications at this time.

Once they are old enough, they will go through our usual adoption process.

In the meantime, if you’d like to support the Box of Chocolates, or any of the 200+ cats and kittens currently in our care - you can donate here:
