Thank you for your support! Moderation guidelines
The RSPCA is here for animals and we’d love our page to reflect this. There are so many important animal welfare messages to get across and discussions to be had; we’ve got a few guidelines to ensure all this important stuff doesn’t get lost! To help us keep animal welfare at the top of the agenda, please don’t post any:

• violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist posts, links or images
• comments that threaten or defame any person or organisation
• solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or not-for-profit organisations.
• comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity
• multiple successive off-topic or disruptive posts
• repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated
• posts containing specific details about cruelty cases (these should be reported to the cruelty line on 0300 1234 999, rather than posted here)
• posts which we feel may potentially impact upon prosecutions. Where an investigation is considered ‘active’, any comments made about the case may mean someone facing charges might not be in a position to have a fair trial and the trial could collapse. We reserve the right to delete any of these types of comments, or ban any user who infringes these guidelines. In addition to this, individuals who seek to persistently antagonise our supporters, and accounts which are suspected to be false profiles created with the intention of breaching a ban and persistently antagonising RSPCA supporters, will be removed from the page.

We’d be as grumpy as this little song thrush if all our tasty live food had run out too😅.

Yes… once again we are in DESPERATE need of live food for our many, many, MANY young garden birds currently in care.

Since March 1st alone, we have admitted an incredible 468 young birds - and every single one of them needs feeding constantly throughout the day from dawn until dusk. That means thousands upon thousands of insects every week just to keep hungry beaks full and growing bodies healthy.

Right now, what we need most are:
🪱 Waxworms
🐛 Mealworms
🦗 Crickets

If you would like to help, the easiest way is by purchasing directly from our Amazon Wishlist and having supplies sent straight to the rescue👇

Every single tub genuinely makes a difference and helps us continue providing specialist care to these hungry little patients during one of our busiest baby bird seasons yet.

Thank you, as always, for helping us give these tiny patients the very best chance of returning to the wild💚

It’s Horse of the Week time! Everyone meet Chere! 🐴

Chere is a lovely 14.1hh mare who is looking for a loving new home.

Chere is a sweet mare looking for her second chance in life. When Chere arrived, she was rather unsettled and did not like it if she was taken away from her friends, so would not always catch for her groom. Now a lot more settled, she will happily come in for a pamper and some cuddles, and only occasionally need the temptations of a sweet treat to catch. She is good for our farrier but can be slightly wary of the vet, due to this and the fact she can be a little unsettled in new environments, she will need a competent handler.

📌 Chere is based at World Horse Welfare Belwade Farm, Aberdeenshire

💚 Cappy and Naana have been waiting nearly 6 months to find a new family but have not managed to find love so far - could you be the one they have been looking for? 💚

These boys are looking for pastures new after their previous owners were no longer able to keep them anymore. Could you be the one to add them to your family tree? If so, they would love to meet you!

In terms of temperament, these boys are beginning to enjoy human company and they brighten up our days no end. They will make the most wonderful addition to the home of whoever is lucky enough to adopt them.

Guinea pigs make fantastic pets and our staff here can answer any questions that you have about their care.

If you have any questions about this duo, then please email us at [email protected]

To apply to adopt them, fill in the form on the link below and email us: https://www.rspca.org.uk/documents/d/rspca/small_animal_rehome_application

This week, 35 of our staff and volunteers are attending Appleby Horse Fair, the biggest traditional gathering of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in the UK.

We're proud to work alongside our charity partners, including Blue Cross UK, Bransby Horses - Rescue and Welfare, British Horse Society, The Donkey Sanctuary, Mare and Foal Sanctuary, Redwings Horse Sanctuary and World Horse Welfare, as well as the police and local authority.

With hundreds of animals at the event, our experts are there to work with Fairgoers to best ensure their welfare, including removing debris from the water in advance of the Fair and each day, providing advice, and speaking to owners where necessary.

Read more about the role each of our organisations plays during the Fair: https://newc.co.uk/appleby-2026/

Meet Vera🐾

We can't believe this stunning girl is sadly RSPCA Northumberland West's longest-staying dog.

She's a young, smiley Staffie Cross who absolutely adores her people and can never resist a good fuss! She has huge potential when it comes to learning and would thrive with a dedicated owner who is willing to continue her training journey.

Could you make Vera feel less overlooked? Take a look at her profile and apply today: https://bit.ly/4eTaJcO
