💖GARY💖

How amazing is Gary the goat at using his new nebuliser!🐐 He is finally starting to feel better after a lot of hard work and stress for the staff at Bleakholt🥹

If we had a patient of the month award, Gary would definitely be Septembers winner 🤭😂

BLUETONGUE UPDATE 🪰

The map below shows the current distribution of Bluetongue cases in the UK. This is likely an under representation due to the delay in testing results.

Please remember prompt treatment saves lives - if you suspect an animal has bluetongue contact your vet ASAP.

We have now cleared our waiting list for the Bluetongue vaccine and have a few spare bottles still in stock and possibly a few shared doses in bottles.
If you still require some of the vaccine and haven’t heard from us please message us or give the office a call 💉

The heatmap shows confirmed cases of BTV3 (red markers) but also represents the bluetongue activity based on the density of the blue colour.

There have been 1,116 cases across the UK to date in the 26/27 season, with many more suspect cases awaiting lab confirmation. Changes in case reporting in England from Sept 11th mean that private vets can now report suspected cases online, based on clinical signs and presentation, without the need for sampling in every case. Wales and Scotland’s case investigation protocol remain unchanged.

remains a notifiable disease across all of the UK and all suspect cases need to be reported. See here for clinical signs:
Cattle - https://nadis.org.uk/disease-a-z/cattle/bluetongue-in-cattle/
Sheep - https://nadis.org.uk/disease-a-z/sheep/bluetongue-in-sheep/

It is not too late to vaccinate ahead of the predicted surge in Autumn cases, and to protect stock and fertility for next year.
