🫘 JUST LOOK AT THESE BEANS! 🫘

Believe it or not, these beans were all removed from the same horse, just 6 months apart! 😮 It really highlights how quickly beans can develop and accumulate, even within a relatively short period.

🐴 Every horse is different. Some may never develop beans, while others can be more prone to them. They can also occur at a surprisingly young age, with horses as young as 3 or 4 years old developing them. It certainly isn't just an old-age issue!

Beans can cause significant discomfort and may contribute to behavioural changes or difficulties when ridden just to mention a few. If they become particularly large, they can also interfere with urine flow and, in more serious cases, cause an obstruction.

💙 Prevention starts with regular professional checks. Once a horse has developed beans, they may be more prone to developing them again, which is why routine checks are so important. At least an annual check is a sensible part of your horse's healthcare routine, although some horses may need checking more frequently depending on their individual needs. Your hygienist will give you an appropriate care schedule for each individual horse.

Please don't wait until your horse starts showing signs of discomfort before getting them checked. Horses can have beans without showing any obvious symptoms.

Make intimate health checks part of your horse's regular care routine. Your horse may thank you for it! 🐎💙

Removal of a bean from a gelding that I've cleaned. 🫘
I originally saw him 6 months ago and removed 5 very large beans then, previous to that he hadn't been done for about 4 years hence the reason why those beans were so big.
6 months later and he had another 4 beans, not as large as the last time, but still a good 3cm diameter. Video just shows one of these being removed. This just goes to show how important it is to have your horses checked and cleaned regularly.
Your hygienist will give you a plan on their care and how often it should be done, whether it be 6 months or 12 months.

🐴 More wonderful horses seen over the last couple of days! 🐴

A huge thank you to all the lovely owners who understand the importance of regular equine intimate health checks and professional sheath cleaning. 💙

As you can see from the photos, some good size beans were removed, along with a considerable amount of built-up sm**ma and crusty residue in some of the horses to. These routine checks are so important, as a horse can have a clean-looking sheath but still have beans present that may cause discomfort.

These lovely boys have now had their hygiene checks and cleans, and they will undoubtedly be feeling much more comfortable! 🐎✨

🐴 Two wonderful boys, both in for their routine sheath cleans and intimate health checks. 💙

Both boys were incredibly well behaved, especially the boy who needed beans removed, as understandably this can be very uncomfortable for them. Like us, horses have different pain thresholds, some can have the largest bean and you wouldn't know as they aren't showing any signs, but others can have the smallest bean and be showing severe signs of discomfort or bad behaviour, to name a few.
Interestingly, despite these boys having routine checks, these beans had formed again within just 12 months. This really highlights why regular professional checks are so important.
A sheath can be extremely clean, but that doesn’t necessarily mean there aren't going to be any beans in the pen*s. I usually find in a lot of cases (Note: not all) that if they dont have much sm**ma in their sheath, they will usually have a bean or two.

I’ve had the pleasure of carrying out health checks and cleans on some fantastic boys and girl over the last couple of days. 💙

I really can’t stress enough how important it is to have your horses checked and cleaned as part of their regular care routine. Don’t wait until there is a problem, prevention and regular checks can make such a difference to your horse’s comfort and wellbeing.
