2 days - just 2 days, and I'm posting about this again 🤦🏼‍♀️

Our Social media isn't just about all the amazing weddings we do - it's also about real animal care.

🚫Calling all wedding venues & photographers !!!🚫

This is not ok - this is not wedding day perfection, as the photographer states.

This is an unhappy dog who won't let their family down until it passes out.

Are your staff trained in Canine Emergency Care if a dog collapsed? Would you know how to deal with a dog who has heat stroke? Do you have their medical history?

Who is liable?

We speak about liability for damaged equipment, property, staff, and guests, but who speaks about a dog who's injured or becomes ill from a canape or heat exhaustion?

We love dogs at weddings - we built our business around it - but this is just one huge reason why a professional chaperone is just as important as every other service booked for the wedding day.

Meet Goose 🪿

Our newest VIP at BOW-Tiful

At just 9 weeks old, Goose is having drop-in visits for toilet breaks and playtime whilst he settles into his new routine.

Once he is fully vaccinated, we will be having more adventures in the local area. Having already used to his collar and lead on the garden, Im sure those adventures will be so much fun.

Goose is a Golden Retriever, and he's doing so well with toileting training.

Can't wait to watch you grow and be part of your amazing journey.

Such a stunning industrial venue but these photos capture it perfectly 👌, it was so lovely to see you guys again!!

Little Bert was a total pleasure to chaperone, he was so happy and loving towards anyone who gave him attention, as Ringbearer - he smashed it, we completed the day with an overnight stay at his home where he never left my side

Why?

2 dogs who attended a wedding this weekend, when the weather wasn't exactly warm or humid, yet both are clearly overheated/stressed.

When a dog sweats they only have a few areas to do this (unlike humans - that can even sweat from their eyelids🤦🏼‍♀️)

A dogs most efficient way to reduce their body temperature is to pant and whilst an open mouthed pant is acceptable, a sideway tongue shows aggressive overheating.

As a Professional Chaperone this should be our top priority in our risk assessment. Whilst panting can also be a sign of stress, neither reason for this level of panting should be ignored.
Cooling, removing them to a calmer place and offering water is required immediately.

Whilst we will work with all breeds, age and health condition, BOW-Tiful Walks & Weddings has limits and should your dog become ill, injured or show signs of stress/heat exhaustion we will make the decision to adapt their involvement in your day, even if that means disrupting the timeline.

No dog should be put into photos in this condition. Ever!

On Sunday 31st May BOW-Tiful became 8 years old!! 🍾🎂🥳.

This is me, with a lot less hair 🙈 and that's Riley, our beloved boy who passed away in January at 13 years old 😭
When the business began in May 2018, I created handmade bowties for pets - hence the name BOW-Tiful
Selling to Dog Groomers across the UK, EU, and US, Shops & Dog owners, the accessories expanded with best sellers, including bowties, bandanas, flowers, collars, leads & snuffle mats.
All designed by Kate but Ant was there from day one - cutting, packing, fetching, posting, and supporting the business even late at night when the orders kept flying in.

In 2022, I won an award for my handmade wedding tuxedo harness, one you will continue to see around today on our wedding dogs.

Our success in the wedding accessories sector created our opportunity to become the 1st Chaperone in the UK who could offer the full package - a fully adaptable Chaperone service with wrap around care and an accessory handmade by Kate in your colour scheme - add to that the level of care, compassion and knowledge of Dogs and the wedding sector, we have now completed over 200 bookings.
BOW-Tiful Walks & Weddings have won awards and been regional Finalists in the wedding and business awards sectors for the past 5 years
However as great as awards are, nothing truly reflects your business like the 5 star feedback we receive from our couples - that makes me proud of the business I created all those years ago and work so hard to continue growing.

Continually improving our knowledge, Kate has completed her IMDT Dog trainer course, Pet Sitting and Dog walking diplom, and is currently working on an Ofqual qualification in canine behaviour and welfare. We are both emergency first aid trained and continue to do Solo Dog walks with our long-standing customers.

With the RSPCA raising concerns over unlicensed and unethical dog services across the UK (a little late in my opinion), it's important to understand the difference in services available.
With apps such as ROVER advertising unlicenced home boarders and convincing pet owners their "guarentee" covers insurance for both pet and sitter, as an unregulated industry, it doesnt mean professionals should sit back and watch pet owners get scammed.

Pets are being neglected, people are taking on too many dogs due to greed, and accommodation is not being checked.

Councils are openly admitting they don't have the man power to inspect, so as a pet owner, what can you do?

Well firstly, refer to the information provided and ensure any service you book meets the standards, whilst the industry isnt regulated there is no reason to not have best practices so don't settle for anything less, dog care is just as important as child care and this doesnt stop with the above info - how dogs travel is just as important.

If you are ever unsure about a service provider, we will always be happy to help check them out to make sure your dogs are safe.

Congratulations to Hannah & Daniel who became husband and wife at Tankersley Manor last week

There gorgeous Cocker Spaniel Nova stole the day with her excitable happy nature, on one of the hottest days we remained inside the cool Crook Barn where she got to meet and greet all her family and friends and watch as Hannah prepared to walk down the aisle to Daniel.

From the emotional first look with Dad to those doors opening into the ceremony, Nova was there to see it all, she completed her part as Ringbearer like she had done it a thousand times before, she then got to relax whilst her family celebrated before joining in photos.

We spent the entire day together along with overnight care at Tankersley so Hannah and Daniel could enjoy their entire wedding whilst knowing Nova was close by and happy.
