The Bull Terrier Chronicles continue.....

We could not be more proud of Storm. It wasn't that long ago that she wouldn't even step in a puddle! Now look at her go.
We also saw how well she is controlling herself in group situations. Instead of running straight in and causing havoc she is now keeping herself at a responsible distance and when she does get close she is being very chilled and respectful towards the other dogs.

I have never been a big fan of the "like" button. I preferred it when we could inly leave comments. I thought it was more conversation starting. The like button makes it easier to shoot straight past.

So i wrote a post this morning about keeping dogs fit and feeding them well, which helps with the heat and someone just left an 😡. Which left me slightly confused! Was it because they dont like dogs to be fit and healthy or because I was not taking my dogs out in the midday sun and forcing them into conditions which would force them into heatstroke or could it possibly be because they were wearing ecollars?!!...

Sadly we will never know or be able to have a conversation about it because I stead of commenting and striking up a healthy debate the person just left an 😡 and went onto the next thing!

Knowing the environment is always helpful. You can't see it but the dogs are drinking out of a natural water cache in the trunk of this tree.

⚠️Bull Terriers don't tend to enjoy the heat!!⚠️

Wether you have an English, a staffy or a pitbull. They don't do too well in the changing conditions we have here in the UK. Especially the humidity we get when we have these sudden hot spells.

⚠️Please be carefully with your Bully's. ⚠️

⚠️They overheat fast!! ⚠️

⚠️Once they overheat it is very hard to cool them back down and has to be done slowly.⚠️

It is very easy to forget that the ground gets very hot and that dogs pads, no matter how hard, are still soft and can burn on the heat of the tarmac, concrete or sand!!

Its easy enough to check the ground with your hand before taking your dogs outside. It literally takes a few seconds.

The weather is finally where we want it to be. Hot, hot, hot.
However our dogs don't like it as much as we do. Which is why we train hard. Good cardiovascular exercise and keeping the fat off our dogs helps them to cope through the heat of the summer months.
Remember that old saying "you will make your dog into an athlete." ?!

Well this one of the reasons that we should keep our dogs in a good healthy condition. Good, solid obedience, the right food and supplements coupled with the right amount of exercise in the right place at the right time and they will be in a great condition to help them when the humidity hits us!!

Now I am also not being an idiot. The Twins are never expected to walk over red hot tarmac or concrete and if I declare it too hot outside they don't go! This video was shot at 8.30pm last night because I could not walk the Twins over the tarmac in my carpark until it had cooled off!

The Bull Terrier Chronicles continues....

We spent a little time touching a few things up yesterday. But mostly just played in the park and had fun.

We talked through the huge differences that have been made in both Storm and Ocean over the last year.
They were unable to walk on lead and life was getting difficult everywhere!!
Now they are able to go anywhere and everywhere and lost of their time is spent off lead living their best life.
