FM Equine are now using thermal imaging (thermography) as an additional tool to support diagnosing issues and managing recovery in horses.
Key points:
Thermal imaging uses infrared cameras to detect heat patterns on a horse’s body, highlighting areas of inflammation, injury, or abnormal circulation.

It is non-invasive, safe, and quick, meaning horses don’t need sedation or contact during assessment.

The technology can identify problems earlier than visible symptoms, allowing faster veterinary intervention and preventing more serious injury.

It helps pinpoint areas needing further investigation, guiding vets alongside other diagnostics like scans or X-rays.

Thermal imaging is also used to monitor rehabilitation, tracking healing progress and helping decide when a horse can safely return to work.

In short:
FM Equine are adopting thermal imaging to improve early detection of injuries and to more accurately monitor recovery, making diagnosis quicker and rehabilitation safer and more effective.
