☀️ HOT WEATHER WARNING FOR OUR FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS 🐶🌡️
With temperatures set to rise dramatically this week, with some days reaching close to 30°C+, it’s really important that we adjust our dogs’ routines to keep them safe and comfortable.
Please remember that even if we feel okay in the heat, our dogs can struggle to regulate their body temperature and can overheat very quickly. If in doubt, skip the walk! A missed walk is much safer than a trip to the vets.
🐾 Top tips to keep your dog safe and happy:
💧 Always ensure they have access to plenty of fresh, cool water
🏡 Keep them indoors or in shaded areas during the hottest parts of the day
🌅 If they need exercise, stick to very early mornings or late evenings when temperatures are cooler
🐕 Check pavements before walks – if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws
🧊 Provide cooling mats, frozen treats, lick mats or stuffed Kongs to help keep them occupied
🧠 Swap physical exercise for mental enrichment – try scent games, training sessions, puzzle toys or hide-and-seek
🚗 Never leave your dog in a car, even for a few minutes
As a professional dog walker, the dogs’ welfare will always be my number one priority. For this reason, all walks will be paused during the extreme temperatures, and I will be offering shorter garden visits and toilet breaks where possible.
Thank you all for understanding and helping us keep our furry friends safe this summer ❤️🐾
Stay cool, everyone! ☀️🐶
