🥰LOVE these boys – what a team! 🐾💚

Reggie was rehomed about 10 months ago and to begin with, he was a bit of a challenge… 😅
No listening ears 🙉
Reacting to every man, woman and his dog passing their gate on the way to the park!
Off like a shot wanting to chase birds, plastic bags and other dogs when out on a walk. 🐦🛍️🐕 - pulling on lead and no recall😳

We've been working together to help Reggie with his struggles and this training session showed how far he has come😀.

We saw dogs… Reggie chose to come back. 🥹
We saw birds… Reggie chose to come back. 🐦➡️👨
A plastic bag appeared… very interesting! 😂🛍️
We were using the long line for a bit of extra security, but
Reggie wanted to be with Dad. ❤️
Not forcing him.
Not shouting.
Not expecting perfection.
Building that relationship, giving Reggie the skills to make good choices and showing him that coming back is always worth it🎉😀.
We also introduced Middle to build engagement and connection with Dad. It was a little sticky to start with, but Reggie soon got the hang of it. Then came Spin & Twist and he LOVED it!

So proud of these two - what a team they are becoming and I think Reggie fell on his paws when he came to this home! 👏🥰

When Arna was rehomed around 8 months ago, disengaging from the environment was a real struggle and recall was a big issue. There was lots to work on and it was going to take time, patience and plenty of practice.
Fast forward to now and she’s smashing it! 🎉👏
We’re still using a long line for that extra bit of security, but have been able to drop it for periods of time and just as importantly, Mum is feeling much more confident too! 🥰

We had a real-life test an our training session at the park, when an off-lead dog ran into Arna’s space, she stayed close rather than running off. 💕🐶
Having the long line there meant Mum could quickly pick it up, just in case!
It’s about giving both dog AND owner the confidence to succeed, whilst gradually building towards more freedom. 🙌
All that hard work, consistency and practice is paying off.One of my favourite things to see is how much more relaxed Arna is in her environment – happily sniffing, exploring and just being a dog. 🌿👃🥰

It’s not always about how quickly we get there, sometimes it’s about celebrating those little steps along the way!👣🐾
Well done team Arna – you’ve both worked so hard! 🐾👏
If you’re struggling with recall, disengagement or simply want a little support with your dog’s training, drop me a message to see how I can help. 💌🐾

🎉🐾 EXCITING NEWS 🐾🎉

I’m really proud to share that I’m now an approved Kids Around Dogs (KAD) Professional! 👧🐶👦

What does that actually mean?

Kids Around Dogs (KAD) is a UK organisation dedicated to helping children and dogs live together safely and happily.
As a KAD Professional, I’ve gained additional knowledge and skills to support families with things such as:
🐾 Helping children understand and respect dogs
🐾 Teaching children how to interact safely and appropriately with dogs
🐾 Supporting families preparing to bring a puppy or dog into their home
🐾 Helping dogs who may feel worried, overwhelmed or uncomfortable around children
🐾 Supporting children who are nervous or fearful around dogs, including neurodivergent children
🐾 Helping families build positive, calm and confident relationships between their children and their dogs.

When children and dogs share a home, understanding, communication, boundaries and safety are incredibly important.
My aim is to help both ends of the lead — and everyone in between! 🐾

I’m already an IMDT-qualified trainer, Games-Based Concept trainer and I’m currently studying for my Ofqual Level 6 Clinical Canine Behaviour Diploma with Canine Behaviour College.

Becoming KAD approved is another step in my commitment to continually learning and developing my knowledge, so I can provide the very best support I can to the families and dogs I work with. 📚🐶❤️

The goal isn’t just “kids and dogs being best friends.”
It’s about helping them learn to understand, respect and enjoy each other safely. ❤️

If you have children and a dog, are thinking about bringing a dog into your family, or would simply like some guidance on helping children and dogs live happily alongside each other, I’d love to hear from you.

🐾❤️ HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY! ❤️🐾

Today is all about celebrating our dogs… but here at Happy Tails, I believe every day should be about helping our dogs feel safe, understood, confident and most importantly, happy. 🐶💕

For me, dog training isn't about having the “perfect” dog. It's about understanding the dog in front of you - recognising that every dog is an individual, with their own personality, emotions, experiences and challenges.

It's about celebrating the tiny wins that others might not even notice… 🥰
✨ Choosing to look at you instead of reacting
✨ Coming back when called
✨ Walking a few more steps on a loose lead
✨ Coping with something that once felt scary
✨ Choosing to engage with you
✨ Simply feeling confident enough to explore the world

My own Ella has taught me all this. She has been my hardest doggy challenge, but without doubt, my greatest teacher. 🐾

At Happy Tails, I use kind, ethical, reward-based training, because I want dogs and their humans to learn together, build trust and enjoy the journey.

So today, don't worry about whether your dog can sit, stay, heel or have the world's best recall.

Celebrate who they are. ❤️

Give them an extra cuddle.
Play their favourite game.
Let them sniff.
Listen to them.
And tell them how lucky you are to have them. 🐶💕

🐾 Is there something you're struggling with? You don't have to figure it all out on your own. ❤️

📩 Get in touch with Happy Tails today and let's work together to understand your dog and create a kind, practical training plan that works for both ends of the lead.

Your dog's journey doesn't need to be perfect — it just needs to start. 🐾

📩 Drop me a message or get in touch to find out how I can help.

Helping both ends of the lead — one happy tail at a time. 🐕✨

🌧️🐾 Well, that was a wet one! 🐾🌧️

Our first early morning dog walk in the pouring rain for quite a while… and we got DRENCHED! 😂☔️

I have to admit, it was actually quite refreshing and a welcome change from the heat we’ve had over the past few weeks. 🌦️ But ooooh… the smell of wet dog! 🤢😂 That’s definitely something I haven’t missed!
After a thorough drying off, the sweet aroma of wet dog 😜🐶 now fills the room… and I’m sure it’s going to be lingering for a while! 🤣

💡 Don’t forget to leave a towel by the front door ready for when you return from your walk, then practise those spins and twists on the towel to help dry off those wet paws 🐾🐾. It’s a great little behaviour to practise when the weather is miserable — and saves you chasing soggy paws all over the house! 😂

Hope you and your pooches don’t get too soaked today! 🐕☔️

✨ Bea’s first 1-2-1 session 🐾💕

It was lovely to welcome gorgeous Bea, a 1-year-old Border Collie, for her 1-2-1 session - I seem to be getting quite a collection of Collies lately… not that I’m complaining! 🥰🐶💕

Bea can be a little over-enthusiastic when visitors arrive, so we worked on calm greetings and helping her understand that keeping those four paws on the floor gets her lots of lovely attention. ❤️

We also introduced Place, giving Bea a calm, positive space to settle and she picked up hand touch really quickly, engaging well with her Mum - it was really nice to see their lovely connection 👏🐾!

Looking forward to our next session – hopefully when it’s a little cooler! ☀️🥵 Then we can head outside and begin working on loose lead walking.
Well done, Bea and Mum! 💕🐾

🐾🥳 Happy 1st Gotcha Day, Ozzie! 🥳🐾
This young man has been in his furever home for one whole year🥰💙

To make the day even more special, Ozzie’s family received a Happy 1st Anniversary in Your New Home card from the Border Collie Trust. 🐾💌

Ozzie has come such a long way since his family first asked me to be part of his training journey. Watching his confidence grow, seeing the progress he has made and supporting his family along the way has been such a privilege. ❤️
There have been challenges a few little steps backwards, but most importantly, there have been so many wins. 🐾✨

I’m incredibly proud of Ozzie and his family and so grateful they trusted me to be part of their journey.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the progress you make over the next few months.
Happy 1st Gotcha Day, Ozzie! 💙🐾

Here’s to many more happy years in your furever home! 🥰🏡

Today, Dogs by Cat shared the loveliest post about how proud they are of Ella (the Boss) and just how far she has come. 🥹❤️
Reading those words meant so much because there was a time when grooming was something Ella found quite overwhelming. Through patience, kindness and allowing her to go at her own pace, she is now happy, relaxed and comfortable throughout the grooming process.

We've also spent time at home working on gentle handling and short, positive grooming sessions to help build her confidence. Those little moments all add up,and it's nice to see that paying off.

As a dog trainer, I know how important it is to find professionals who always put the dog's welfare first. Grooming should never be about simply getting the job done – it's about building trust, creating positive experiences and ensuring every dog feels safe.

A huge thank you to Dogs By Cat for always seeing Ella as an individual and for treating her with such care, compassion and understanding. Your lovely post made me realise just how much progress she has made, and I couldn't be prouder of my girl. 🐾❤️

If you need help with training sessions to prepare your dog for the groomers, please get in touch😃🐾
🐶💕

I honestly couldn’t be more proud of this girl.
When she first started coming to me, she was incredibly nervous. The grooming table was one of her biggest fears, especially when it had to be lowered and raised. There were days when she wouldn’t even get on it. Fast forward to today, and what a difference. She stood on the table happily after her bath with her tail wagging, stayed calm throughout, and let me confidently trim her without jumping away or telling me she’d had enough. The whole groom was relaxed, chilled, and genuinely lovely from start to finish.
Moments like this remind me that grooming isn’t just about making dogs look beautiful, it’s about building trust, patience, and confidence over time. Seeing her progress has been such a privilege, and I’m so proud of how far she’s come.
These are the wins that mean the most 🐶🐾

🐾❤️ Look at Tassy! ❤️🐾

This gorgeous Rottweiler has made such a transformation since being rehomed. 🥰 From seeing her on our first session to now, Tassy is the picture of health, happiness and growing in confidence. ❤️
Tassy's new family asked for help with loose lead walking and recall, but also found that settling at home was a challenge. She was easily over-excited and found visitors arriving very exciting!

She now settles nicely, is much calmer around the house, and is no longer as boisterous when visitors arrive.

We focused on loose lead walking this week and we could already see progress by the end of the session 🐕👏

Well done to Tassy and her lovely family for all the hard work they've put in between sessions. Consistency really does pay off! 🐾😃

If you'd like help with your dog's training, whether it's recall, loose lead walking or settling at home, please get in touch. 🐶
