Testing your water is the single most important thing you can do as a fishkeeper 💧

Even if your tank looks crystal clear, the water chemistry could be completely off. Aim to test weekly for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Any spikes in ammonia or nitrite need immediate attention.

This is honestly the number one maintenance task that gets skipped! We recommend a partial rinse of your filter media every 4-6 weeks in old tank water (never tap water - it kills your beneficial bacteria!).

A clogged filter leads to poor water quality and stressed fish. Take 20 minutes this week to give it some love. Your tank will thank you!

Did you know your lighting schedule has a bigger impact on your tank than most people realise? 💡

For freshwater tropical tanks, aim for 6-10 hours of light per day. For planted tanks, consistency is key - try to run on a timer so it's the same every day. Too much light is one of the main causes of algae, so don't assume more light means better for your plants!
