Fun Dog Gun Dog Superstars! 💥

What a totally awesome Sunday of training 👏🌟👏

We practiced a variety of exercises to help with:
Steadiness (impulse control)
Place board training
Different types of retrieves
Stop whistle
Waits/stays
Heel work
Recall whistle

Pet dog gundog training adapts working dog techniques to provide mental stimulation, improve recall, and enhance impulse control for pet dogs.

Enrichment

Friday Fun on a very windy morning! 🥳🥰 today at our ‘I Need Space’ group class AKA Friday fun Club ( FFC)

O what larks! O what achievements! 👏🌟👏

We practiced lots of activities towards our WWs ‘Life Skills’ Awards and some impulse control, with some amazing results.

Our classes encompass much more than just teaching specific cues or obedience commands.

It is fundamentally about building a relationship, understanding our dog's emotions and needs, managing their environment, and teaching them life skills.

Our dogs behaviour is often an expression of our dog's emotional state, such as fear, anxiety, or excitement, rather than simple ‘disobedience’. We designed this particular class for those dogs who need a slightly different environment than a general group class.. and it’s working so well.

A holistic approach involves addressing these underlying emotions and ensuring the dog feels safe and comfortable in their environment.

We are so proud of everyone’s progress in our FFC sessions 🥹👏🌟

Here’s a little cutie to help warm the cockles of your heart on a wet and windy, drab Thursday afternoon ❤️

Can you guess the breed?

Gorgeous George’s owners wanted to get their puppy started off on the right paw right away. 😉

We spent time observing George explore his surroundings and building confidence on the puppy sensory pathway.

We talked about, amongst other topics:
*socialising
*how to manage a multi dog household
*collar & harness confidence
*top tips for meeting new people
*walking nicely on lead
*puppy biting, nipping, chewing 😅

With puppy training there really is so much more than sit, paw, rollover😉 and getting it right in the very early days, will make for a well rounded dog.

Puppies who receive early consistent training are less likely to develop behavioural problems in the future

Our clients really benefit from the support and camaraderie that being part of a friendly puppy training group can bring.

We can’t wait to welcome George and his owners to puppy class in a couple of weeks time ❤️

George was such a good boy he went home with a Fish4Dogs puppy pack too 😉

Start line waits (some of us were better than others and some didn’t really want to move at all…😉🤣)
