Tarantulas 🕷 I love watching them climb up the glass and just sit there, seeing their underside is amazing, so much different from the top 😲🕷

🌟Fun Fact🌟
Mexican Redknee Tarantulas have large, powerful vertical fangs (which you can see on the top of the picture in the middle- black in colour) attached to their chelicerae.

They use these black or dark brown fangs to inject venom, break down food, and defend themselves, though their venom is mild and rarely dangerous to humans.

Love watching him just relax and sit there being chilled out 🐍

🌟Fun Fact 🌟
The name ‘royal python’ stems from the fact that African rulers once wore live pythons as jewellery.

Love the way they use their paws to stick to surfaces and the way they move too! 🐸

🌟Fun facts!🌟

Sticky pads: Tiny grooves and special mucus on their toe pads act like suction cups.

High jumpers: Long, strong back legs let them leap far between branches.

Love watching our Frank soak up the rain mist 💙🦎

🌟Fun Fact🌟
They are native to warm, coastal lowlands and tropical forests of Madagascar meaning misting daily to maintain moisture and let them drink water droplets off leaves.

💚🐾Happy National Zookeeper Week! 🐾💚
This week, we celebrate the incredible people who dedicate their lives to caring for animals, advancing conservation, educating others, and inspiring the next generation to protect wildlife.
Here's to the early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, and the work that never makes the highlight reel.

Here's to the keepers who celebrate every milestone, grieve every loss, and always put their animals first.

Thank you for your compassion, resilience, knowledge, and unwavering dedication. The impact you have reaches far beyond the zoo gates—creating lasting connections between people and wildlife and inspiring others to care.

Happy National Zookeeper Week to every past and present zookeeper. Your work truly makes a difference. 🐾🌍💚

Happy National Zookeeper Week 🐾
Here's to the stuff that never makes the highlight reel.
Here's to the keeper who cried in their car after a loss and still showed up the next morning to feed breakfast on time.
Here's to the one who worked Christmas. And Thanksgiving. And their kid's birthday. Because animals don't know what day it is.
Here's to the keeper hosing the same wall for the thousandth time, knowing that clean space is love in its least glamorous form.
Here's to the one who spent years volunteering, interning, and working for free just to earn the right to work this hard.
Here's to the former keeper scrolling this week with a full heart and a little ache. You didn't stop being that person when you turned in your radio. The animals you loved were lucky to have you and I hope you know that never expires.
Here's to the kid at the fence right now, watching a keeper talk about an animal like it hung the moon. That was us once. That spark is how every single one of us got here.
And here's to the animals. The ones who taught us patience, humility, and how to love something that will never say it back in words. They say it in trust. That's better anyway.
If you're in uniform this week, I hope you get the pizza, the thank yous, and a moment where you remember why you started. If you've hung up the boots, I hope you look back proud. You gave your best. That was always enough.

See you later alligator
Alexis 🖤🐾
