First sit on the new schooling livery - what a lovely girl she is. Jaffa is here to polish up her schooling and add a bit to her CV before we start looking for her next home. She’s made a great first impression 🧡

Well Maxwell is on a roll bless him, 2/2 double clears and placings the last 2 weekends in a row.
3rd today in the GOBE100 at Bradwall Manor, it was a lovely event and the ground ran very well despite the lack of rain.
His XC I was thrilled with, he was full of confidence but really rideable, all the combinations rode just how I’d planned them to. Such a good boy 😇
A few days off for him now and then will start gearing up for hopefully a late entry into the Novice at Penrith 🤞

The kids having a go at some gymnastics jumping this week - Moose found this one hard! He’s getting there but it’s still tricky for him to shorten and sit on his hindquarters. Baby Whistle was an overachiever and thought it was a breeze 😄
Both very happy to be back jumping after a couple quiet weeks due to the heat

Had to get this photo of Maxwell with his picture perfect knees 😇

Maxwell cruising around Alnwick to take the win in the GOBE100 finishing on his dressage of 34.5. It was a very small section, but I’m still so pleased with him.
He’s a very kind and forgiving horse, but also sensitive, so I’ve wanted to build a partnership at a level we both find straightforward before moving up. It’s nice to feel like it’s working!

Moose man trying hard to engage his brain yesterday for some laterals. I’m finding the canter lateral work really useful as a way to ask him to collect and engage - you can’t ask him outright as he hasn’t yet worked out how to collect on cue. But he has to shorten, balance and engage his hind for the laterals, so we get a little collection as a byproduct of the lateral work. Not lots, but a little!

Whistle was very pleased with himself after his first time jumping away from home at Richmond Equestrian 😇.
He was actually a last minute sub for Maxwell, who seemed a little off the day before. In hindsight I think he was just irritated by flies but ah well, better safe than sorry. And Whistle definitely enjoyed his trip!
He was very cheerful as soon as we arrived, had to investigate the tack locker, the grooming kit, his tack, the treat box, my pockets, etc. He may be one small 4yr old but sometimes it does feel like trying to corral a gang of baby Shetlands.
Once onboard though he’s a pretty easy ride, warmed up with minimal spooking and jumped round well. He did his first proper course, admittedly at 50/60cm, and he did pull out his clambering over in walk routine for a couple, but by the end he was getting the hang of things.
I’m really pleased with him and glad he seems to be enjoying his ridden career so far - that’s the only goal at the moment!

Moose finishing well in his first 1m class at Northallerton evening SJ 🎉 No clear rounds but I’m so pleased with him - this is only the second venue he’s competed at, plus a step up in height; I’m just happy he gave it a go and kept trying. It’s 90% a mental game with Moose, he’s got the scope and athleticism, now he just needs to get out places and see the world!

Baby Whistle’s been busy! (Ok, not really, he works 4 days a week and spends the rest of his time asleep in a field) But he was a clever dude learning about scary planks, bending lines and bounces today. His natural reaction is, when in doubt, take the speed out and walk very carefully over things. Long term this strategy is not going to work over anything over 60cm, but for now, it’s not the worst reaction to scary stuff!

Maxwell feeling super round Little Whittington today - getting much more rideability each time out. Looking forward to Alnwick in a couple of weeks 😄
