We are officially entering cosy season! π
Here are a few things to keep your pets safe as the weather gets colder π
π³ Conkers and Acorns - as well as being toxic if ingested, these autumn tree seeds can cause blockages in the intestines which, if not treated, can be fatal
π Fallen and rotting fruit - poses multiple risks to animals, mainly mould toxicity which can cause neurological and digestive harm! Ethanol poisoning is caused by the fermentation process and ingesting whole pips/seeds can cause intestinal blockages
π Wild Mushrooms - symptoms range from mild stomach upset to fatal liver/kidney failure or neurological harm if ingested
π Slugs and Snails - common causes of lungworm, preventative treatments can reduce the risk. Even their slime trails on outdoor water bowls, toys etc can carry the parasite
βοΈ Anti-freeze - most commonly affecting cats, if ingested can cause rapid kidney failure and is frequently fatal
