Loose leash walking is a hot topic in the dog training world 🔥

But is it that important ?
My opinion is no, lead walks are great for round a town or getting to an area… but simply put no dog wants to be on a lead 🫡

Off lead feeedom is a bare minimum 😘

People always ask me “chan, why do you bang on about off lead dogs?” Well because it’s arguably one of the most important skills to have 😮‍💨

Off lead freedom is more then just looking cool.
it’s having a strong relationship with the dog where they want to be near you.
Where you have the opportunity to make your dogs life as large as possible.
You let the dog actually ‘be a dog’

If you brought a puppy with no intention of having them off a lead somthing has gone wrong.

No dog deserves to be walked round the block every day of their life, dogs were made to explore,hunt and sniff … don’t take that away from them!

Enrichment for your dog is so so crucial.

Because a bored dog is a destructive one 😤

True off lead freedom gives your dog a chance to act like a d*ck and truly at like a ‘dog’ !

Chasing squirrels ✅
Rolling in fox poo ✅
Swimming in muddy puddles ✅
Using their nose to follow a scent ✅

Let them be a dog first, if the problems are still there afterwards. Then see a trainer 😘

Same dog. Different response. 🐺🔥

This GSD came in with a big reaction to its triggers.

So instead of throwing the dog straight into the situation, we changed the approach.

🎾 Play first.
🎯 Build engagement.
↩️ Create distance.
👀 Reintroduce the trigger.
🧠 Reward the right decisions.

And this is where the transformation starts.

The aim isn’t to simply stop a dog from reacting.

It’s to teach them what to do instead.

We’re now on the way to getting Rocko confidently off lead, with the focus, control and reliability needed to make better choices in real-world

Do all dog naturally settle in public… NO 🤯

Teaching a dog to behave in pubs, restaurants or cafés is a under spoke about skill.

Here’s how to succeseed >

1• get the dog off lead first, tire them out give them an opportunity to run and ‘be a dog’ before you ask them to act like a human.

2• cooperative play, playing together not only teaches manners it’s an excercise that creates boundary’s and a OFF switch!

3• crate training, sounds stupid right? If your dog has a ‘crate’ or a ‘bed’ command you are half way there. Build this up arround distractions!

Now you have a pub dog … Bosh!

3 things I would never do with my puppy,

1- not get a crate. I mean if you still think crates are cruel. Grow up😮‍💨

2-wait to train. Set your boundaries from day 1 try ignore that they are so bloody cute 🥰

3-go to puppy socialising. It is so so so easy to socialise a dog… just be a d*ck. don’t let everyone and everything interact with your puppy, easy

Mike is a staffy cross, he’s approximately 2 years old and he’s brilliant 🤩

Unfortunately mikes owners are an elderly couple and they just can’t give him the exercise that he needs.
