Just a little (re)introduction from myself, Alice.
I took over the shop, formerly Amiras Pet Palace, in 2025 after working for the former owners for around 9 months. It has always been a dream of mine to run my own shop so the opportunity was just too perfect to pass up on.
Before the shop, I worked for a Master Groomer in a private salon for almost two years before going on maternity leave. Prior to this private salon I spent 5 years in a large chain pet shop as a groomer.
My journey into the dog grooming world began in 2014, after dropping out of studies due to what I now know was burnout! I spent a year in Cornwall learning how to groom under another Master Groomer, alongside working in kennels. I didn’t take my Level 3 City and Guilds Exams until 2017, after gaining more experience in the industry, but I passed first attempt 🥳
Since my grooming journey began I have worked with pets in many different capacities, including fostering and training for WMP, my own photography and art business, charity work, and briefly dog training after obtaining my Level 4 Diploma in Canine Behaviour and Training.
Animals have always been my passion, I’ve always had an array of pets in my life from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and invertebrates!
Alongside grooming I enjoy being creative, especially with digital art and physical crafts. I also enjoy gaming and reading to escape reality!
This year, I won my first industry award in an international grooming competition- placing second in my class which was “Chronic Warriors”, a class for people who struggle with chronic illness. Some of you may know already that I groom through some physical health issues including arthritis, slipped discs and chronic fatigue; and this year I’ve also learned that I have AuDHD which has explained a lot of my life 😅
Anyway, if you’ve made it this far I hope I haven’t bored you! Thank you for trusting me with your pets, and I hope that I can help you with them for many years to come!
