I’m not the groomer for everyone… and that’s perfectly fine.

After 6 reasons why I’m not the groomer for you, I thought it was only fair to tell you why I might be exactly the groomer you’ve been looking for.

Because for me, grooming isn’t just about making your dog look cute.

It’s about building trust.
It’s about understanding your dog.
It’s about being honest when something isn’t possible.
It’s about putting their welfare before the perfect finish.
And it’s about creating a long term grooming relationship that works for both of you.

The groom can wait. Their trust can’t 🐾

I could have rushed her.

But that’s not how I want to groom.

Every dog that comes into Doggie Stylez gets the time they need. Sometimes that means taking breaks. Sometimes it means slowing the dryer down. Sometimes it means accepting that the groom won’t be perfect today.

I’m not interested in simply getting a dog looking good.

I want them to feel safe while they’re here too.

A relaxed dog on the table isn’t “being lucky”- it’s something i work towards. Building trust, reading their body language and never asking for more than they’re ready to give.

Because I’ll take a bit of a wonky trim over a dog who leaves frightened, overwhelmed or traumatised.

The goal isn’t just a beautiful groom.
It’s a dog who feels safe enough to come back 🐾

Do these 5 things between grooming appointments- you’re groomer will thank you for it!

1. Brush right down to the skin.
Not just the fluffy top layer — use a slicker + comb to make sure you’re getting through the whole coat.

2. Check the “problem areas” 👀
Behind the ears, armpits, collar area, chest, legs & around the bum are matting hotspots.

3. Dry and brush after walks/swims.
Wet doodle coats + friction = matting nightmare.

4. Don’t wait until they look scruffy.
Regular grooming appointments help prevent small tangles becoming big mats.

5. Tell your groomer about any changes 🐾
New products, coat changes, skin issues or anything you’ve noticed at home can all be useful for your groomer to know.

I’ve been a little quiet on here because we took the girls away in the campervan for a family adventure… and what an adventure it turned out to be 🥴🤪

In the space of 30 minutes between destination #1 and #2, a window flew off the hinges, the engine started smoking (which turned out to be the starter motor dying), the fridge broke AND the alternator decided to give up the ghost too, for good measure. 🙈

The drive home became a genuine game of “will it make it or won’t it?” 😅

AND THEN… 🙈🤦🏼‍♀️

Driving to destination #3, I came face-to-face with a combine harvester down a VERY narrow country lane, misjudged the turn and reversed into a ditch. 🙈😂

Special thanks to the 15-odd people I’d managed to trap behind me, and said combine harvester, who somehow managed to push me out on 3 wheels 💪🙈😂😘

And a huge thank you to my very handy hubby, who fitted a new starter motor and bought a battery charger so the lack of a functioning alternator meant we could at least get around for the rest of the trip and, ultimately, make it home! ❤️

But between all the chaos, we laughed more than we have in ages, made amazing memories, explored, and had the most incredible time.

Sometimes the trips that go completely off plan end up being the ones you remember forever. ❤️

Anyway… I’m back from Campervan Chaos, messages are all caught up and I can’t wait to get back to making your pups look fabulous! 🐾

The dogs in my care will always come first. 🤍🐾

Not every groom goes exactly to plan.

Sometimes a dog needs a break.
Sometimes we need to adjust the style.
Sometimes the kindest thing I can do is stop before they’ve had enough.

My job isn’t just to make dogs look gorgeous, it’s to make sure they feel safe, respected and leave with a positive experience.

That might mean a groom takes a little longer or looks slightly different than originally planned, but I’ll never rush a dog just to stay on schedule.

I’d rather do the right thing than the quick thing. Every single time.
