Can’t believe we are in the “Ber” months tomorrow. Evenings are drawing in and it’s so much cooler.
We’ve had an amazing Summer. It’s gone so fast!
Taking care of so many dogs. 🐶 🐾
Sorry it’s been a little quiet here…. Had a week off spending quality time with family, some lovely days out and a weekend away to Butlins.

Today is the day to celebrate everything about our loveable furry friends, no matter what breed or age they are.
This awareness day also exists to help us recognise the sheer volume of dogs that need to be rescued each year.

Do you do this as part of your daily routine with your dog?

So many reasons why it’s helpful to check your dog daily, especially after a walk in the long grass and around tick season, and it only takes 3 minutes while the kettle is boiling.

🐾It is so important for your dogs overall health. Spotting problems early can avoid further issues , less stress on the dog and you, and avoid high vet bills.
🐾Helps home from home boarders like myself
🐾Helps with vet visits.
🐾Helps groomers.
🐾Helps to build trust and relationship.

5 habits pet parents need to let go of today: 💕

❌ Walking the same route with your dog every. single. day.
❌ Rushing your dog around the block.
❌ Talking too much.
❌ Leaving the poo bags behind or even worse, Not picking up your dogs mess! 💩
❌ Letting your dog off the lead with no recall.

Here's what to do instead:
✅ Mix up your walking routes to add more variety and enrichment for both you and your dog.
✅ Let your dog sniff! Give your dog time to check it all out. You might not get as far, but sniffing is calming and soooo enriching for dogs. Slow things down and enjoy.
✅ If you feel your dog doesn’t listen when asked to do certain things, it may be that they are learning to drown you out and you are just talking too much. Talk less and they should listen more!
✅ Invest in a little bag that clips onto the lead so you never forget the poo bags, and just pick it up, and bin it! SIMPLE 👍👍👍👍
✅ BE FUN AND MEET YOUR DOGS NEEDS.
Google “what my dog was bred for” and give them the life they deserve.
(Physical and mental enrichment)
When their needs are met, they are less likely to be obsessed and frustrated with the environment and any triggers such as running to other people /dogs.
Show your dog you are the best person to hang with. Train your dog a recall cue and reward them with their most favourite thing (food, toys or praise) and use a long line.

Everyone wants to do their best for their dog, 💯 And we know it can be easy to slip into these unhelpful habits.
