🐾 WE’RE RECRUITING — FULL-TIME DOG GROOMING STYLIST 🐾

We’re looking for an experienced Dog Groomer / Dog Grooming Stylist to join our lovely team at Scooby’s Grooming Salon in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield.

Scooby’s is a well-established, premium salon specialising in small and medium-sized dogs. We’re particularly known for beautifully finished teddy bear-style cuts, high standards and giving our clients an experience that matches the quality of the haircut.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently hit the ground running in a busy salon environment and is comfortable grooming a variety of common breeds and crossbreeds.

You’ll need:
✂️ Strong styling and finishing skills
✂️ Confidence creating beautiful teddy bear-style trims
✂️ Excellent attention to detail
✂️ Great customer service and communication skills
✂️ A positive, upbeat attitude
✂️ To enjoy working as part of a friendly, supportive team
✂️ A real desire to keep learning, developing and improving your skills

This is a full-time, Monday–Friday position — no weekends! 🙌

One of the questions I was asked after yesterday’s post was:

“How do I know I’m not hurting my dog when I brush them?”

And it’s such a good question.

Brushing shouldn’t mean pulling harder and harder until you get through a knot. Working gently, in small sections, with the right tools makes a huge difference — both to the coat and to how your dog feels about being brushed.

One of my favourite checks is to follow your brush with a metal comb. If it glides through easily from the skin to the ends, you know you’ve done the job without repeatedly brushing the same area.

Confidence with brushing is something I teach step-by-step inside The Doodle Coat Care Course, because home coat care should feel manageable for both you and your dog.

If you brush your doodle regularly but your groomer is still finding little knots or mats, you’re definitely not alone.

A lot of the time, the issue isn’t how often you’re brushing — it’s whether you’re getting right through the full coat.

One of the easiest checks is to follow your brush with a metal comb. If the comb glides through from the skin to the ends, you know you’ve reached everything underneath too.

The last one still gives us chills. 😳

Check your dog daily — especially paws and ears. If they’re suddenly licking, shaking their head, or squinting, get them checked ASAP.

This adorable little Maltipoo, Bear, has just completed his Scooby’s Puppy Package — and he’s done so well! 🤍

It’s been lovely watching Bear progress through each stage of his puppy journey, getting used to all the different sights, sounds and experiences that come with a visit to the salon.

And to celebrate completing his Puppy Package, Bear is the very first puppy to receive our brand-new Certificate of Achievement! 🏆✨

It’s our little way of recognising how far our puppies have come and celebrating that they’ve built some brilliant foundations for a lifetime of happy, confident pampering. ✂️🐾
