I’ve had a few people ask me why I’d groom cats so I thought i would clear up any misconceptions.

Cats do groom themselves however as a cat ages their flexibility reduces making fur maintenance difficult. If you have a medium or long coated cat that is getting older you may notice matting in areas such as the back legs and chest this is most likely due to reduced flexibility. A professional groom can help make the cat more comfortable removing the matts and trimming any hair that is frequently matted.

Although this mainly helps older cats or cats with specific needs it is important to introduce grooming when the cat is a kitten as this allows the cat to get used to the process.

If you have a cat that suffers with frequent hairballs a professional groom can help reduce the frequency by helping remove the dead coat.
