🐾 Please help my beautiful girl Sahara ❤️

My amazing friend Sean and his Husky Mylo are doing a 10-mile sponsored walk from Southport to Formby on 30th September to help raise money towards Sahara’s surgery. 🐾❤️

Sahara is currently in a lot of discomfort and is struggling to put weight on her front right leg. She needs pancarpal arthrodesis surgery to give her the best chance of getting back to the happy, active dog she is.

🐾 PUPPY TRAINING WITH TEDDY & LUNA! 🐾

A lovely session today with these two gorgeous 9-week-old puppies! 🐶❤️

We worked on marker training, luring, engagement and learning new behaviours, along with some advice for crate training , confidence building and helping to prevent resource guarding from developing.

They both did brilliantly and were absolute little superstars! ⭐️🐾

It’s been a little while since I’ve seen Mylo and Cory, so it was great to catch up with them today! 🐾

Cory has been doing some more work on his Martingale collar, focusing on calm walking, engagement, and building confidence. He’s making lovely progress, and it’s great to see how much he’s coming on with consistent training.

🐾 Not All Dogs Learn the Same Way… and Dachshunds Are No Exception. 🐾

One thing I’ve learnt over the years is that training a dachshund often requires a different approach.

They’re regularly labelled as stubborn, but many are actually cautious, sensitive, and naturally independent. If they’re worried, rushing the process can make things worse instead of better.

This is why it’s important to understand the breed in front of you. A training method that works brilliantly for a Labrador or a German Shepherd may not be the best approach for a dachshund.

Good dog training isn’t about using the same method on every dog—it’s about reading the individual, understanding their breed tendencies, and adapting your training to help them succeed.

With dachshunds, I believe patience, trust, and confidence-building are the foundations of great training.

Every dog deserves to be understood before they’re expected to learn. ❤️
