Here’s a little medley of some of the rest of our wonderful teams who started courses with us this week at Confident Happy Canines 🐾

We’ve already welcomed a few of this week’s classes, so here are some more of the lovely dogs and humans joining us across:

• Novice Social Lifeskills
• Recall Course
• Advanced Course
• Parkour, Agility & Fitness
• Puppy Lifeskills

It’s always a pleasure to see returning teams continuing their training journey alongside brand new faces getting started with us.

We’re looking forward to another brilliant term together 🐶👏

Friday morning Advanced Class teams were back this week, and we also welcomed a new team to the group.

Today’s session focused on introducing new exercises whilst revisiting previous skills to improve understanding, accuracy, and confidence. One of the biggest parts of advanced training is learning how to break complex exercises down into clear, achievable pieces, then gradually build them back up before generalising those skills into different activities and real-life situations.

We also worked on fitness and obedience exercises, giving both dogs and handlers plenty to think about and work through together.

What we both love about this level of training is watching teams learn how to problem solve, communicate more clearly, and grow in confidence together rather than simply “getting the exercise right.”

A really positive start back, and we are both looking forward to seeing how all the teams progress over the coming weeks.

FYI….

Bee and wasp stings can happen to our cats and dogs 🐝

Bees often leave a sting behind in the skin, while wasps can sting multiple times.

If your pet shows signs of swelling or an allergic reaction, contact your vet straight away ⚠️

For more advice on insect bites and stings, visit our Pet Health Hub: https://pdsa.me/gJ5J

[Visual description: Infographic titled 'what to do if your pet is stung by a wasp/bee'. Signs and symptoms: swelling, licking or biting the sting, whining and crying, limping or holding up a paw, drooling, and hives. If your pet is having an allergic reaction, they could have more severe symptoms. If this is the case, get them to your vet as soon as possible. If your pet is showing signs of swelling around the mouth or throat area, see your vet immediately. Never squeeze a sting, as this can make things worse. If your pet's reaction is mild, call your vet for advice and closely monitor them for signs of an allergic reaction.]

Joining in the fun on National Biscuit Day 😃

Who knew there was such a day ? 🤣we love a biscuit dunked in a hot brew do you ?

😃What is your dogs favourite Biscuit?

😀What’s your favourite Biscuit?

If you fancy a go here is an easy biscuit recipe to follow for your furry friend :-

HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER BANANA DOG TREATS INGREDIENTS

These peanut butter and banana dog treats are made using only four ingredients!

🐶Whole wheat plain flour which contains more nutrients and can be easier for your dog to digest than white plain flour.

🐶Peanut butter which doesn’t contain xylitol as this is harmful to dogs. We use smooth but you can use crunchy if you prefer!

🐶Banana adds a little sweetness and helps bind the ingredients

🐶Water also binds the ingredients together into a smooth dough

HOW TO MAKE EASY HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER BANANA DOG TREATS

These banana and peanut butter dog treats are honestly so quick and easy to make in just one bowl!

😀Preheat your oven to 170°C/150°C fan
😃Add wholewheat plain flour, peanut butter and mashed banana to a large mixing bowl and mix together with a wooden spoon
😀Add water a tablespoon at a time, mixing in between until it forms a smooth dough
😃Flour a work surface and roll out the dough about 1/2 cm thick
😃Cut out your biscuits using your chosen cookie cutters (I used a dog bone cutter which was 6cm long)
😃Place your biscuits onto a baking tray. They don’t really spread in the oven so they don’t need much space between them!
😃😃Bake for 10-11 minutes (based on a 6cm bone-shaped cutter – if you use smaller cutters they will bake in less time, or will need a little longer if you used a larger cutter)
😃Place the baking tray on your countertop out of the reach of your dogs of course 🙂 to allow the biscuits to cool for 5 minutes before removing them and placing them on a wire rack to cool completely.

Done!

Can dogs smell underwater? 🌊🐶

The answer is… sort of, but not in the same way they smell in the air.

Dogs rely on airborne scent particles entering the nose, which is why their sense of smell is so powerful on land. Underwater, scent behaves very differently, so dogs cannot “sniff” normally beneath the surface like they do on a walk.

However, dogs can detect scent particles and gases that rise through water. This is why specially trained water search dogs are able to locate things beneath the surface by working from boats or along the shoreline.

Many dogs also follow scent across the surface of water incredibly well. You may notice your dog investigating areas of ponds, lakes, or rivers even when they cannot actually see anything.

A dog’s nose is an amazing piece of biology but it still follows the laws of physics! 🐾

Have you ever watched your dog use their nose around water?
