I recently went to Broad Oak Park with Finn.
We met a gorgeous, adolescent Hungarian Vizsla.

She was running around like she had gone into a shop and drank all the red bull.
My eyes could not keep up with her.

Her owner said 'I have walked her for 3 hours and she is still like that'.
Wow I thought, wish I had her energy that's for sure.

There is so much pressure for us as owners to give our dogs what they need,
We are often told, gundogs need lots of physical exercise.

That is not quite true.
What this owner was actually doing was building an athlete.
A 'Usain Bolt' of the dog world.
She could go for 4 hours but she still won't tire her dog, just making her fitter.

The only way to tire out a gundog is to do breed specific games.
Vizsla are bred to find, retrieve and track.
They are known as 'Velcro dogs' because they like to work closely with their owners.

This is the same for most gundogs.
If the owners did breed specific games such as 'find it' and retrieving games out on a walk.
Then it would tire them out and strengthen their bond.
The dog wouldn't want to run off instead stay with their owner.

Isn't that what every owner wants.

I am inviting you to grab the early bird offer for my 'Spaniel skills Saturday' on Saturday 4th July 2026.

If you have a spaniel that is over-excited, ignores you and more focused on everything else, then this workshop is for you.

I will be covering all things spaniel such as breed specific games, retrieving, heel work, recall and whistle training.

Your dog needs to know basic obedience such as recall and wait/stay etc and be comfortable around other dogs.

It will be real life training that you can implement in your walks straight away.

This is what my lovely client, Fiona had to say about my previous workshop; 'We wanted to come for an introduction/ taster session with Nellie to see if it was something that would be good for her to do. We enjoyed it all, it was good for us to see the more experienced dog and handler, we got some good tips to take away with us too. Our biggest takeaway was probably that dogs should be walking on their walks and not ‘self employed’ that’s not something that we’d really thought about before. The only thing to add is thank you for a super session, we were pleasantly surprised that Nellie wasn’t more distracted with the passers by and the dogs playing fetch’

I am ditching the hall for 2 weeks for Spaniel Summer school at the park.

This outside class starts on Monday 6th July @ 7pm at the Downs in Bexhill.
I will focusing on lead pulling and recall with distractions.

If you have an overexcited spaniel in new places, this is the class for you!

This is great if you have come to any of my classes as you will be able to put what you have learnt into real life practice.

You may know that last year, I changed the name of my business from Pawtastic Gundog Adventures to Spaniel Tamer.

So, I changed all my social media and website but I didnt change the logo.

It was one of those things, where I couldn't make up my mind.
I wanted it to be perfect,

But I have finally decided on my new logo.
I can exclusively share it with you today.

I think my logo designer has done amazing job.
It represents me rather well and lovely drawing of Rose.

To celebrate the launch of my new logo.
I am thinking of running another Spaniel Saturday bootcamp/workshop on the 4th July 2026.
