I recently took my mum out for lunch for her birthday.
We went to the pub and Rose came with us.

When my mum suggested taking her.
I was a bit hesitant.
I am thinking 'Will she behave'.
'Will she ruin lunch'
'It might be stressful'

On the other side, it would make a good training opportunity.

So, I didn't listen to my negative thoughts and hoped for the best,

We found a nice table outside.
I don't know why I was worried, she was very good,
She did her usual flop down on the floor when greeting other humans.

She was excited but to be fair I am when I enter a pub and she was a little interested in our food than I would have liked but apart from that she sat by my feet happily.

Overall, I was pleased with her and it has given me confidence to take her to more places.
She responded to me when she was excited, that's the main thing.

Managing excitement levels are so important, this is what I teach in my teen class.

I only have one space left for June intake, so if you want to grab the last place then apply today.
This is the last class before summer break so if you miss out you will need to wait until September.

You know that dread feeling when you have to go back to work.
Sad face ...........

But not for little Rose, She has been back as my demo dog for the last few weeks at classes.
I think she has loved every second.

In normal Rose style, she likes to greet everyone by flopping down on the floor, humans must stroke her belly and mmm fellow dogs must sniff her.

She loves all the attention especially on her birthday. We celebrated her 3rd birthday last weekend.
I took her to Pets at home to pick a toy.

She was a little spooked by the doors, but once we got over that she picked her toy.
While we were at the till, she got a treat and after i paid for the toy.
She put her paws over the counter and grabbed the toy in her mouth and left.

It was the cutest thing.
Everyone agreed even the people in the queue.
Thank god, She did it after I paid otherwise that could have been embarrassing.
She definitety left happier than when she arrived.

This is very much how I like owners to leave my classes.
It is always nerve-wrecking the first week, just like first day of school.
We are all in the same boat.
Things don't always go to plan with Rose.

It is not how you start, it's how you finish that matters.
If you are looking to gain more confidence in your training then join me in June for my teen class.
You will need to apply for you space.

*Attention new puppy owners*

Do you have a puppy that won’t stop biting you and your kids?

Are you worried about safely socialising your new puppy?

Is your puppy constantly stealing things and running off with them?

Sadly, ignoring these puppy problems won’t make them disappear, and if you do nothing, things will only get worse. You don’t want an out of control devil dog that will ruin your life. Fixing these issues now will set you up for a life-time of stress free dog ownership.

Help is at hand with my ‘Tame your Problem Puppy -the right way’ 5 week class Training experience which kicks off on Monday 1st June 2026 held at St Stephen’s Church Hall, Bexhill @ 8:30pm.

This is ideal for puppies under 5 months of age.

Tailored for spaniels and spaniel crosses.

This is only class that will help your puppy become a happy and well behaved member of the family.

Here’s what one of my clients had to say about puppy classes;
‘we have gained in confidence, gathered a sense of the basics, picked up lots of really great tips but not too much to take in. We would recommend you.
THANK YOU! Also it is brilliant you have Rose and that you are clearly an amazing “dog person” and so committed to happy dogs – I suppose you wouldn’t be doing this otherwise but it really shows’

My classes are very popular so you will need to fill out an application form below to apply for a space.
Only 1 space left so you need to hurry up and apply!

At this time of year, bluebells look lovely, don’t they.
I was in the woods, and I had this idea.
To take a picture of Rose sitting around the bluebells.

Sounds easy, right.
But it wasn’t.
In normal Spaniel style.
She would not stay still for love nor money.
She was much more interested in diving on the bluebells than sitting next to them.

All I wanted was for her to stay still long enough to take the bloody picture.
Then I noticed, she was very interested in this massive log.
She picked it up, laid down and started chewing it.

In that moment, I had an idea.
I picked up the log.
She was instantly focused on me.
I asked her to sit and stay.
Bingo!
I took the picture.
Here it is.

Isn’t she cute
And yes before you ask, she is just starring at the huge log, not me😂.

We do, what we have to do.
It is an important reminder to use what the dog is interested in.
Even if that is a massive log and you feel like a complete idiot holding it.

If you enjoyed this everyday hack, you would enjoy my teen class, the next intake is on Monday 1st June.
This is the last class before summer break so if you don’t apply today you will have to wait until September.
