🕯️❤️ A peaceful place for a final farewell

We’ve recently added some more beautiful lights to our Room of Remembrance at VetCare@Peace. ✨

So many families tell us how tranquil and peaceful they find this room, and how much it helps them to have somewhere that feels warm and comforting for their final goodbye.

The lighting can be dimmed to create a softer, more peaceful atmosphere, which can be particularly helpful for children who may find a bright, clinical environment overwhelming. 🥰

Our aim has always been to create something very different from a traditional clinical setting - a quiet, non-clinical space for pet euthanasia and those precious final moments together. 🐾🌈

A place where you can take your time, be together and say goodbye in your own way.

We wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported our charity fundraising during August and September by making a purchase.

Some people find it comforting to give their beloved pet a parting gift or memorable token when they leave them in our care.

We’ve tucked pets in their favourite blankets and sent them on their final journey with gravy bones, balls, flowers, toys, and so many other precious things that held special meaning. 🐾🌈

Recently, we were given permission to share these beautiful drawings, created by the children of a much-loved family dog.

We think they are such a pure and touching representation of the deep love children - and all of us - can have for our pets. ❤️

Their beloved dog recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and these special pictures stayed with her throughout her goodbye.

A little piece of her family’s love, right by her side. 🐾❤️🌈

Come along to The Tavern, Derby Road, Belper for an afternoon of family fun - and lots of fabulous dogs! 🐾❤️

The event is being held in aid of Pebbles Legacy, a wonderful volunteer-run dog rescue centre in Stoke-on-Trent. 🐕❤️

Pebbles Legacy provides a loving home to dogs who have fallen on hard times, giving them the care, patience and second chance they deserve. 🏡🐾

We’re really proud to support such a fantastic cause.

We understand that saying goodbye to a much-loved pet is incredibly difficult, which is why we’re pleased to now offer free collection from selected local areas.

We can collect your pet free of charge from:

📍 Riverside Vets
📍 Marshall & Till Vets
🏡 Homes in Belper, Ambergate, Duffield & Heage

If your pet is at one of these vets, or at home within one of these areas, simply let your vet and our team know, and we can arrange the collection for you. ❤️

For collections from other areas across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and surrounding areas, we charge £1 per mile.

Alternatively, you’re very welcome to bring your pet directly to our crematorium in Belper.

Our Room of Remembrance provides a quiet, private and peaceful space where you can spend some precious final moments with your pet before saying goodbye. 🕊️🐾

We often get asked, “What made you think to set up a pet crematorium“

So this is how we began our journey...

My very first dog was called Oliver. He was my absolute world 🌍
He reached a very good age of 13 and became unwell. We had to make that awful decision that every pet owner dreads. The vets were fantastic with the end-of-life care. But it was only afterwards that I started to think about where my boy had actually gone to be cremated. I never did actually ask!

I was heartbroken to find out that he would most likely have been put into a plastic bag, then into a freezer, then collected many days later, then travelled miles away to a huge crematorium alongside many dead pets in a van, then waited ages to be cremated. Therefore, how likely was it that I actually received him back and only him 🙏 Most vets use a huge crematorium. They are told which ones they have to use and are part of a chain.

Since starting our crematorium, many vets and nurses actually come to us with their own beloved pets. They don’t use their own…

At VetCare@Peace we are completely different. No freezer, no bags, no long car journey with others, no long waits to get them back home. Your pet is 💯 loved and cared for. We guarantee your pet is treated with the respect they deserve. You will only receive their ashes back - nothing else. That is our promise and why we have begun our journey of providing excellent veterinary care. It’s my love for Oliver that we can do better for animals. They are just as important as us. 💙🌈
