Meet the lovely Marnie🥰
Marnie came to see us having eaten an airpod. Luckily Marnie's mum brought her to see us soon after she ate the airpod and we were able to make her sick and the whole airpod was retrieved.
Earphones, watches, hearing aids and toys are amongst many household objects that can contain button batteries. Button batteries can cause serious health risks to animals (and people!) who ingest them, as they can cause burns to the oesophagus, stomach and intestines.
Alkaline batteries (such as your standard AA/AAA batteries) can also cause serious health problems if ingested, especially if they have been punctured during the process. Due to the high pH of the contents of these, chemical burns can be seen all the way from the mouth down into the intestines.
If your dog or cat eats or bites down on a battery, or an object you know contains a battery, please get in contact with us as soon as possible so we can decide what the best next steps will be for your pet.
Well done for being super brave Marnie 🐾
