Vets Now Dedicated to out-of-hours emergency and specialist care for pets 🐾
Here when you need us most ❤️‍🩹 That's where Vets Now comes in.

Your pets are your cherished companions - and just like us, they can become ill or suffer accidents at night, over the weekend or during a public holiday

- just when your usual vets' surgery is closed. We partner your regular vet to provide a dedicated emergency service during their well-earned time off. We sleep during the day and take days off when other vets are working - so we're alert and effective at our job, whether it's four in the morning or half-way through Christmas. We have the same qualifications and experience as other vets, and because we're dedicated to urgent critical care, we're particularly skilled at dealing with emergencies. And just like other vets, we love animals and we understand the special bond between people and their pets - so you can expect a caring, understanding approach at all times.

Certain behavioural changes observed in our senior pets aren't simply unavoidable aspects of ageing; they might be indicators of dementia (also know as Canine Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome).

Identifying these signs early allows your vet to assist you in effectively managing the condition, ensuring your pet remains as happy and healthy as possible. ❤️

German Shepherd Sargent Bianco was rushed to us at our Vets Now Sheffield clinic suffering from GDV (Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus) which is a life-threatening condition where the stomach twists and fills with gas, cutting off blood supply and requiring immediate emergency surgery.

Vet, Milly, successfully performed the operation and gave Sargent Bianco the best possible chance of recovery. His owners had only just got married and were devastated. Following his procedure, we're delighted to say that Sargent Bianco is now home and doing really well. 🐾

There was also an incredible story of teamwork happening behind the scenes. Earlier this year another Vet from Sheffield, Kate, performed her very first GDV surgery with support from a colleague. In this instance, with Sargent Bianco, she was able to return the favour by supporting Milly through her first GDV procedure. It was a real full-circle moment and such a lovely example of colleagues supporting one another whilst helping a family through a very difficult situation.

Spring walks are a favourite for pets and their owners 🌿🐾

But as gardens and parks are treated for the season, it’s important to stay alert to pesticides, herbicides, and w**d killers that could be harmful to curious pets.

Chemicals on grass, plants, or pathways can irritate paws and skin. They may even cause serious illness if licked or ingested.

Make sure to stay vigilant on walks and always wipe down muddy paws when you're home.

Meet Mylo 🐾

Mylo recently went through a life-saving blood transfusion with our Vets Now Belfast team after being diagnosed with Immune-Mediated Thrombocytopenia (IMTP). This condition causes the body to mistakenly attack its own platelets - the cells responsible for helping blood clot. Without them, pets like Mylo can experience serious, spontaneous bleeding.

His journey isn’t a quick fix. IMTP requires ongoing treatment, regular vet visits, and lots of patience, but Mylo is taking it all in stride with the support of his loving family and care team. 💉✨

We’re so proud of this brave boy and are rooting for him every step of the way. 💙
