And just like that… Rocco has graduated from his puppy 1-1s! 💙🐾

Today was Rocco’s final puppy 1-1, and we focused on impulse control as well as working through the last few remaining exercises from his training 💙

It’s been so lovely seeing the progress Rocco and his owners have made throughout the course. They’ve put in so much hard work, and it’s really paid off! 🥰

Teddy finished his 1-1 Puppy Course today, and it’s been lovely seeing his development throughout our sessions 🐶💜

For our final session, our main focus was on Teddy’s lead walking skills and working around distractions. This allowed us to see where Teddy is doing well, as well as pinpoint the areas we need to continue working on to help build his loose lead walking skills further 💜

We finished the course by putting together a plan going forward, giving Teddy’s owners the tools and guidance they need to continue building on all the progress he has made throughout his Puppy Course 🐶💜

Arthur 🧡

Arthur had a 1-1 session today focused on his barking in the home and, importantly, assessing what may be causing this new behaviour 🐶

As Arthur’s barking has only started within the last couple of weeks, our main priority was to look beyond the barking itself and understand why it may be happening. By identifying the possible underlying causes, we can better understand Arthur and put the right training and management in place 🧡

When our dogs bark, they are communicating something with us. This could be due to a number of factors, including underlying pain or discomfort, noises, fear, anxiety, frustration, attention-seeking or changes within their environment 🧡

Rather than simply trying to stop the barking, we want to understand what is driving the behaviour first. This allows us to work on the underlying cause rather than just suppressing the behaviour.

As Arthur is also working alongside a behaviourist, with his owner's permission I have spoken with the behaviourist and shared my observations from today's session. This will help us work together and ensure Arthur's training is consistent and focused on supporting him going forward 🐶🧡

Our 1-1 training sessions are tailored specifically to you and your dog, allowing us to focus on your individual goals and training needs. We offer packages of 1, 3, 5, 8, or 10 sessions, with pricing available on our website (link in the bio)

Remy 💙

Remy had his 4th Puppy 1-1 session today and he did brilliantly! 🐶💙

We started by planning our next session, where we’ll be working on helping Remy with his loose lead walking in more distracting environments. He’s becoming really focused during his training, but when another person is present, that can become a big distraction, so we’ll gradually build up his ability to stay engaged and make good choices around people 💙

For today’s session, we focused on his recall training, making coming back to us something that is really rewarding and worthwhile for him! 🐶❤️ We want Remy to learn that responding to his recall cue and returning to us is always a great choice.

We also introduced two fun new behaviour, rollover and chin rest! 💙

The chin rest is a really useful behaviour to teach as it can help Remy become more comfortable with handling and give him a way to actively participate in his own cooperative care 🐶💙

Molly ❤️

Molly had her first 1-1 Puppy Session today & she did so well, especially considering how young she is! ❤️🐶

During our session, we kept things nice & easy for Molly, giving her time to settle into the training. Despite her young age, she was a quick learner and did brilliantly! ❤️

At Molly’s age, she is in the critical socialisation period, so we also discussed the importance of building positive associations with the different things she will experience as she grows up, including noises, people, environments and new experiences 🐶❤️

Socialisation isn’t about exposing puppies to as much as possible, but about helping them have positive, calm experiences at their own pace, so they can grow into confident and happy dogs 🥰🐾

Pearl 🩷

Pearl had her 4th Puppy 1-1 session today & she did brilliantly throughout her session! 🩷🐶

Today we focused on building on the recall training we’ve been working on, helping Pearl to understand that coming back to her owner is always worthwhile. We also worked on some lead walking skills, focusing on rewarding the behaviours we want to see rather than simply expecting her to walk perfectly on the lead.

We also introduced a solid “Leave It” cue, teaching Pearl that when we ask her to leave something, there’s always something better available for her to choose instead! 🐾

It’s been lovely seeing Pearl’s confidence and understanding continue to develop throughout her Puppy 1-1s, and she’s making great progress! 🩷

What a brilliant first session! 💙🐾

All of the puppies did amazingly well during their first class, and it was lovely to see them getting stuck into their training 🥰

Rocco 💙

Rocco had his 4th Puppy 1-1 today, where we focused on his recall training and he absolutely loved it! 💙🐶

We worked on making coming back to his owner a really rewarding experience, building his understanding that returning when called means good things happen. We practised rewarding his returns and keeping the exercises fun and engaging, while gradually building the foundations for a reliable recall.

We also introduced an Emergency Stop as part of his recall training 🚨🐶

You never know when you might need an emergency stop, so having another behaviour in your dog’s toolkit that can help stop them in their tracks can be incredibly useful. It’s something we want to teach and practise before we ever need it, so that it’s there when it really matters.

Recall is all about building those skills in easier environments first, before gradually increasing distance, distractions and difficulty as Rocco progresses 💙

We also taught Rocco Play Dead! 🔫🐶 We discussed how we can progress this into teaching him to Roll Over once we’ve changed the hand signal.

💡 Training Tip: If you want to teach your dog both Play Dead and Roll Over, teach Play Dead first. The hand signals can be very similar when you first start teaching them, so changing the signal once Play Dead is established can help your dog understand the difference between the two behaviours 🐶
