Our Zoo Explorers' Club is back!

An exciting week-long summer programme for children aged 7 to 11, combining hands-on learning, creative activities, and unforgettable behind-the-scenes experiences.

July Dates:
Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July
Monday 20 July to Friday 24 July

August Dates:
Monday 3 to Friday 7 August
Monday 17 to Friday 21 August

Sessions run daily from 9.30am to 3.30pm at Belfast Zoo.

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.

We commonly think of bears as viscous carnivores consuming pounds of flesh to sustain their impressive physique.

However, Andean bear diets consist of 95% vegetation, making it second only to the giant panda in its reliance on a plant based diet. 🌿

Our keepers work hard to keep our animals healthy and happy throughout the year by providing them with a range of enrichment activities to keep them stimulated.

Creating enrichment toys however, can be expensive and time consuming - so we rely on the help of our volunteers and donations of re-usuable long lasting enrichment items we can present to our animals regularly.

Let’s talk Spider monkeys! 🐒

Spider monkey family life is unusually close knit and emotionally complex for a non human primates.

Mother and babies form the strongest social bond in the group, and remain in constant physical contact for the first 0-5 months.
