Dog's are social animals but that doesnt excuse reactive behaviours. We teach dogs how to co exist mutually amongst others and rely on obedience to navigate through their impulses so we can have control.

Majority of the time I don't allow strangers or unknown dogs to interact with mine but every now and then it's good to incorporate if everyone is mutual. Bosco was at free will here but I loved how he kept his feet on the ground when interacting with the man and how he respected the other dogs rejection to interact whilst listening to me. No need to intervene because I had put in the foundations of work before I allowed this.

Bosco is here to learn the whole other side of socialisation which is often forgotten about and thats the ability to associate dogs as something boring and neutral rather than an adrenaline spike.

He is described as over friendly and loves dogs. All of these behaviours show a lack of understanding of social skills and pushes interactions very hard when its not recieved. He tries to hump my dog from pure arousal and disregulation. My dog is not in heat and he displays this with other dogs so we need to teach neutrality, introduce to better balanced dogs and allow fair corrections/advocacy.

Free shaping is a powerful learning method!
With bosco being high energy and well food driven, I wanted to try and free shape the place command. At first there was a lot of no activity- just staring at me waiting to give him direction because luring/hand signals is all he's been taught. So once we worked through the idea that he has to figure out what the behaviour goal that I'm looking for in each rep, will it bring rewards. I pay him with successive approximation at first.

This took a total of 25minutes
