Supporting local business isn’t simply a single visit, snap a story, forget about it kind of deal.
I’ve been a small business in Bedford for 7.5 years, and here’s what I and other great small businesses actually do to really support each other:

- Visit when you can, even when the weather is rubbish
- Take time to actually understand what’s available / what services they do
- Recommend their business by word of mouth to clients
- Mention each other on your respective websites (this does wonders for SEO)
- Be able to read both when the other business owner is too busy to chat, or actually really needs to talk to someone who ‘gets it’
- Stay through the years, and make lasting memories with or involving that business

Small businesses always have one thing right at the heart of them: a person, or a couple of people, chasing a dream and working to keep food on the table for not just them but often a number of staff too. Small businesses are rarely, if ever, faceless. They are the blood, sweat and tears of someone who really cares and wants to succeed, and stick around.

That’s how we do it in Bedford ❤️

Those of you who’ve attended our puppy classes will recognise Wh***ey as the goofball demo dog who sits behind me pulling funny faces every Thursday evening.
But recently she was a superstar on the competition field and became a titled Protection Sport dog, earning her Level 1 title!
This has been a long time coming for her after a major dental injury and challenges along the way, but we persevered with training and I’m exceptionally proud of my happy-go-lucky girl.

A crazy week where one of the walking vans broke down (suspected written off!) one evening, which required being towed (horrifying, 10/10 do not recommend on trip advisor) with a police es**rt. Not entirely sure why they wanted to es**rt us but they politely insisted.. maybe they were placing bets on if I would accidentally crash into the back of Emma’s dad’s van during the towing saga? Thankfully I did not. 😅
So the walking van went for a week long nap at its second home - our favourite garage.
And in the meantime, we went out and bought ourselves a new ford transit custom van!!! So we successfully added another van to our fleet ❤️ This van will need a full kit out with all the usual insulation and ventilation modifications to keep the dogs comfy and cool, and a whole new crate system, so I’ll be posting about that and the process.
The new van arrived home yesterday and has enjoyed a warm evening and day of boiling on my driveway with the occasional ‘test drive’ which was really just an excuse to get some A/C.
And today I got a phone call from the garage to say that the walking van went through open heart surgery and had a 1/1000 chance of recovery but has in fact been brought back to life and is ‘driving beautifully’. They also took it on multiple test drives, and commented on the A/C being good, so I suspect they had the same idea as us 😉

And so here we are, 2 walking vans on the road and 2 training vans (1 with exciting mods to be made). And other than that, everything is running incredibly early and we’re trying not to cook ourselves or any dogs into some kind of heatwave induced soup. Happy Wednesday!

Structured Pack Walks now open 📣
For the first time in years, we are opening a limited number of spaces to new dogs!

These are not your average dog walks.

As a training led business, our walks reinforce calm behaviour, social skills and obedience so that your dog comes home settled, not overstimulated.

Our walks focus on:
• calm socialisation
• lead manners and recall
• structured pack behaviour
• consistency with your training at home

We do not promote chaos, we build dogs you actually enjoy living with.

All of our pack walk dogs travel in our fully kitted vans, are cleaned or brushed when necessary and you’ll get a report card after each walk.

Spaces are limited and allocated by area and suitability.

Walks are 1 hour, £18 per session and you can book anywhere between 1-5 regular walks a week.
