1,000 followers. Exactly one year to the day since we started this page.

That feels like a pretty good excuse to say thank you.

A year ago, we took the reins at Broads and started building the place into what we knew it could be. Since then we’ve had new competitions, new clubs, British Dressage, charity shows, arena improvements, a very busy café, a lot of long days… and a fair bit of learning as we went.

Most importantly, we’ve had an incredible amount of support from riders, liveries, coaches, clubs, judges, volunteers, organisers, local businesses and people who simply want to see Broads doing well.

So to every one of the 1,000 people following this page — thank you. Whether you’ve competed here, hired an arena, helped at an event, shared a post or just quietly followed along, we genuinely appreciate it.

We started this page from zero a year ago today.

Apparently keeping the old followers isn’t the only way to get to 1,000. 😉

Here’s to year two. We’ve got plenty more planned.

Tomorrow’s the day — The Ollie Nicholls Charity Showing Show at Broads Equestrian Centre

We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone for a great day of showing, all while raising money for two very worthwhile charities.

Unfortunately, due to breaking her leg, Elly Darling is no longer able to join us for her demonstration tomorrow. We wish Elly a speedy recovery and, thankfully, it’s only postponed rather than cancelled — she’ll be joining us later in the year for a clinic here at Broads, with a demonstration as part of the day and proceeds going to the charity. More details on that to follow.

A few bits of housekeeping for tomorrow:

There is no smoking anywhere on site, with the exception of the car park.

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome, but they must be kept on a lead at all times, and please clean up after them immediately.

The café will be open throughout the day serving hot and cold food and drinks, so whether you’re competing, helping or just coming along to watch, we’ve got you covered.

There’ll also be a tombola in the café with plenty of prizes — make sure you pop in and buy some tickets. Every ticket helps add a little more to the amount raised.

Whether you’re entered or simply fancy coming along to support the show, spectators are very welcome.

See you tomorrow

Another brilliant day with Adventure Riding Club 🐴 at Broads today.

From some of the smallest riders finding their feet, right through to the slightly more experienced competitors, there was plenty going on across dressage, showjumping and gymkhana throughout the day.

These club shows have such a nice atmosphere about them — competitive enough to make it interesting, but friendly enough that everyone can come along, have a go and enjoy their horses.

Thanks as always to the Adventure Riding Club team, everyone who helped throughout the day, and of course all the riders, families and supporters who came along.

A few photos from today — we think they sum the day up rather nicely.

THE OLLIE NICHOLLS MEMORIAL CHARITY SHOWING SHOW – SUNDAY 30TH AUGUST

We’d really like to see this one get the support it deserves.

Help us spread the word, share this post and tag a friend in the comments, and we’ll pick one of you at random to win an hour’s free arena hire here at Broads Equestrian Centre.

The show is being organised by a very close friend of ours in memory of her son, Ollie, who she sadly lost to a brain tumour. Every penny of profit from the day will be going to The Brain Tumour Charity.

There’s a full day of ridden, in hand and fun classes, with something for pretty much everyone, from serious showing classes through to prettiest mare, kindest eyes and best lorry dog.

So whether you’re coming to compete, spectate, support a friend or just spend the day with us, please get involved, they'll be plenty of cheesy chips and slushies to keep everyone fed and watered!

Ridden and in hand classes – £12 pre-entry / £15 on the day
Fun classes – £8 pre-entry / £10 on the day

We know how generous the local horsey community can be when something genuinely matters.

This one does.

Please enter, come along, and share the hell out of it.

What a first British Dressage day here at Broads Equestrian Centre

A huge thank you to every rider who came and supported our first BD event today, and to everyone behind the scenes who helped make it happen — our judges, writers, stewards, callers, volunteers and everyone else who mucked in throughout the day, there's too many of you to tag!

There’s a lot that goes into running a competition like this, especially the first one, and we’re really grateful to everyone who helped things run so smoothly.

It was brilliant to finally see the arena full of competitors, and even better to see so many smiling faces around the place.

The full scores from today can be found here:

We’ve learnt a lot today, we’ve already got ideas for the next one, and we’ll keep improving every time.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along and made the day what it was (& Kym for all the amazing photos, and filling up the memory card!😆)

I First one done.

See you for the next one on 19th September.
