So incredibly proud of Myla today. 🥹❤️

We spent some time outside Morrisons working on Myla’s down stay, impulse control and engagement with me — with people walking past, trolleys, prams, other dogs and constant traffic all around her.

Despite everything going on, Myla was able to hold her down stay, remain settled and continue checking back in and engaging with me. 🐾

This is exactly why I love taking training out into the real world. It’s one thing practising skills somewhere quiet, but being able to maintain those same behaviours when everyday life is happening all around you is a completely different challenge.

She absolutely smashed it. ❤️

Another incredibly lovely 5-star review to receive. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Raven came to me after some difficult experiences with other dogs had left her feeling nervous, hypervigilant and unsure on her walks. Over our time working together, we focused on helping her feel safer, building her confidence and teaching her owner practical ways to help her disengage and move on calmly around other dogs. 🐾

The difference in Raven has been wonderful to see. She’s now more relaxed on her walks, finding it easier to disengage and, most importantly, her owner has the tools and understanding to continue supporting her moving forward. ❤️

A huge amount of credit goes to Raven’s owner for putting the work in between our sessions and being so consistent with everything we introduced. Thank you for trusting me with your girl and for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review — it really does mean so much to my small business. 🥰

Feeling incredibly grateful for this lovely 5-star review. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’ve been so impressed with the progress Monoco and her owners have made throughout their bespoke reactivity training package. From feeling overwhelmed and struggling with everyday walks, to seeing Monoco become more confident, settled and able to calmly navigate situations that previously would have triggered a reaction — the change has been wonderful to watch. 🐾

Her owners have put so much time and consistency into the training between our sessions, and it really shows. Reactivity work is a journey, and there’s never a quick fix, but Monoco is heading in such a positive direction. ❤️

🐾 Does everything change when your dog spots another dog?

For Margaux, seeing another dog on a walk could quickly become overwhelming. She would react on the lead, struggled with engagement and wouldn’t even take food while out walking.

Fast forward to our trained reactivity walk this week, and we’re starting to see some really lovely changes. ❤️

Margaux is now able to calmly sniff and explore on her long line with dogs in the distance. She can notice another dog, watch them and then naturally disengage, all while working at a distance where she feels safe and remains below threshold.

One of the biggest changes has been her engagement. Because Margaux previously wouldn’t take food on walks, we’ve spent time building her motivation for food outside. She’s now able to take rewards and engage while dogs are present, giving us another tool to reinforce those calm choices and voluntary check-ins.

And this is such an important part of reactivity training: progress doesn’t mean getting your dog as close to another dog as possible.

We create enough distance for the dog to feel safe, give them opportunities to sniff and process their environment, and gradually expose them to their triggers without pushing them beyond what they can cope with. As their confidence and skills develop, we can begin reducing that distance at their pace.

There is still more work to do with Margaux, but I’m incredibly proud of the progress she’s making. 🥰🐾

This week I had my first training session with Quinn 🐾

Quinn is reactive towards other dogs and traffic when out on lead, so for our first session we started right back at the foundations.

We introduced some of the skills and techniques we’ll later be using when Quinn has his triggers in sight, but began in the garden where distractions were minimal. This allowed us to focus on building engagement, introducing the exercises properly and, most importantly, setting Quinn up to succeed before gradually progressing into more challenging environments.

He responded really well for his first session and showed some lovely engagement throughout. A really positive start, and I’m looking forward to building on this with him in our next session. ♥️🐾
