Little maverick was in today for his 3 hour session.

Maverick had an unwanted bad on leash encounter with another dog which has caused his reactivity to amplify a lot.

We worked on positive on leash experiences around neutral dogs today to help build his confidence and show him how to cope.

Introducing Missy 🥰

This gorgeous young girl has energy to burn. Her owner has been working very hard alongside trainer Morgan at Klass K9s to develop solid foundations meaning Missy could slot into her first 'big girl' walk without a hiccup 🥰
Demonstrating excellent recall, sit waits and paws up - shes perfect at posing already 😍😍

Her brother will be joining us very soon! 🐾

Pretty little lady Penny in today to start her ecollar training.

Penny is super friendly, super nosey and everyone’s best friend, which sometimes can cause issues on walks.

Diego in for his consultation this morning, his owners are struggling with his prey drive and chasing wildlife.

Diego is a mix of a few breeds, rottie, collie, Labrador & visla. We discussed options including ecollar training, his owners had already purchased one as it was something they had looked into.

Duggie & Reuben in to start their ecollar training tonight.

The boys have a history of deer chasing and vanishing for periods of time. Their owners weren’t sure about ecollar training as most owners are when it’s suggested - this is usually down to a negative stigma surrounding the tool spread by misinformed people.

I allowed the owners to do their own research and make their own decision after providing them with information and answering any questions.

Tonight one of the owners actually said “the dogs actually look like they are enjoying the training they are engaged and happy”

And this is how it should be!!!

⁉️ E-COLLAR FACTS VS FICTIONS ⁉️

There is a lot of misinformation surrounding e-collar training, and it’s important to separate assumptions from facts.

❌ FICTION: E-collars aren’t proper training.
✅ FACT: No tool replaces knowledge, consistency and clear communication but they can help immensely alongside.

❌ FICTION: E-collars are only about corrections.
✅ FACT: Different tools have different functions and understanding how to use them in a positive way is essential. Ofcourse ecollars and all other tools can be used for corrections in certain circumstances if needed.

❌ FICTION: An e-collar automatically gives you perfect recall.
✅ FACT: Reliable recall takes time, repetition and training around distractions. E-collars teamed with the above can provide amazing results.

❌ FICTION: Every dog should be trained with an e-collar.
✅ FACT: Every dog is an individual, and no single tool or method suits every situation/dog.

❌ FICTION: An E-collar will destroy any bond with your dog.
✅ FACT: Simply untrue. Any tool including a leash can cause this to happen when used incorrectly, the tool doesn’t have the capacity to cause this itself, the person controlling it does.

At KLASSK9s, we believe in educating owners, understanding the individual dog and allowing owners to make informed decisions about training methods. Tools are only one part of the picture, knowledge and responsible handling matter most.
