Meet Boris. I met him and his family two weeks ago when we had our behaviour assessment. Boris is 7 and an English bulldog, but he’s not your average English bulldog, this boy loves to play and loves his walks and that’s where some of the problems were. Being a bulldog Boris likes to bully himself around and would charge at his dad’s legs on walks and jump up to get attention, this made walking extremely stressful. Also trying to get his harness on ready to go for a walk had become a nightmare. Boris would jump, bite the harness and then refuse to let go. Leading to massive stress and an over excited Boris even before the walk started.
Me and his family had our second appointment yesterday and his dad said there has been improvements already when out walking him but the massive issue was getting the harness on. So that’s where we started, and as you can see from the video I received this morning it’s going extremely well after just one session.
Boris’ owners took him to another local dog trainer and the advice and training they received was awful.
Boris isn’t a ‘naughty’ dog and doesn’t need a firm hand, he needs clear instructions, time, and patience. He definitely needs boundaries but this isn’t something that needs to be implemented in a forceful way.
I was so pleased to see this update this morning and I look forward to our next session in a couple of weeks 😁🐶🐾

🐾 Would you be interested in a Dog First Aid Course? 🐶

Have you ever wondered what you would do if something happened to your dog?

🐾 Would you know what to do if your dog started choking?
🐾 Would you know how to help if your dog suffered an injury or started bleeding?
🐾 Would you feel confident dealing with an emergency until you could get to a vet?

I’m considering running a Dog First Aid Course to help owners and other dog professionals feel more confident and prepared when it comes to dogs’ safety.

Today we started Freya’s confidence building journey. This nervous girlie’s default is to try and run away and as she a big strong dog this isn’t easy to control. So we started with some simple loose lead walking techniques which she loved and aced! 🥰 Over the next couple of weeks we will be building on this in nice quiet areas. It’s so important to build foundations first 💪🏻
