We specialise in hands-on dog training in the Hampshire area, using positive reinforcement to help owners enhance their relationships while taking into account the unique lifestyles, personalities and life-stages of both owner and pet. My aim is to create a fun and loving atmosphere and a relationship built from respect, trust and understanding in order to establish that strong bond between owner and pet.

50+ tiny logs scattered across the floor. Just THREE containing the target odour.

That was Sunday’s challenge for our Scent Club dogs!

Sounds fairly straightforward until you consider that every single log has its own collection of smells. The wood, the floor, the people who’ve handled them and all the other interesting things going on in the room.

Somewhere amongst all of that, the dogs had to recognise the odour they’d been trained to find.

And here’s my favourite bit.

No pointing, no directing them towards the right logs, no helping them out.

Just six pet dogs using their noses, working things out for themselves.

This is what I love about scent detection. We’re not teaching dogs how to sniff. They’re already rather good at that. We’re teaching them what to search for, how to recognise it and how to communicate when they’ve found it.

And we’re learning when to keep our mouths shut and let them get on with it! 🀣

Puppy classes aren't about teaching a sit and a stay, there's a whole lot more going on!

In Puppy First Steps, we work on the skills that make everyday life with your puppy easier, from recall and lead walking to drop things and useful positions.

There's also our puppy gym, where puppies get to explore different surfaces and objects building confidence at their own pace.

And because puppies don't save all their questionable decisions for class, there's time to chat about what's happening at home too. Biting, jumping, settling, whatever you're working through.

Our next 6-week Puppy First Steps course starts in November, and bookings are open now.

You can book your place at www.lupoacademy.co.uk

Your dog already knows how to use their nose. We just teach them a whole new way to put it to work!

Our Scent Foundations classes introduce dogs to the world of scent detection, where they learn to recognise a specific odour, search for it and tell us when they've found it.

We start with the basics and gradually build their skills, introducing different objects, search areas and challenges along the way.

The hardest part for us humans is learning to stand back and let them get on with it!

So long as your dog has a nose, they can come along and play. You don't need any previous scentwork experience to get started.

Scent Foundations: November classes now booking, online options also available!

Dog training doesn't have to be all sit, stay and leave!
In our Everyday Foundations classes, we work on the things that actually matter in everyday life.

Recall, walking nicely on the lead, learning to settle when you're out and about, and making good choices around distractions.

We also throw in scentwork, tricks and plenty of games. Because learning should be enjoyable for both ends of the lead!

Whether your dog has just finished puppy classes or you're starting training with an older dog, there's lots of fun to be had.

November Everyday Foundations classes are now booking!

Your dog is learning things you never actually taught them. And sometimes they're rather pleased with themselves about it!

They learn that picking up your shoes gets your attention. That the sound of your keys might mean you're leaving. That pulling towards an interesting smell sometimes gets them there faster.

Some learning happens because a behaviour gets them something they want. Other learning happens through the associations they make with everyday experiences.

And none of it requires you to say β€œsit”, pick up a treat pouch or announce that training has started.

The good news? Once you start noticing these little moments, you can begin changing the ones that aren't working for you and building on the ones that are.

You don't need to turn every interaction into a training session. Just remember that learning doesn't stop when the treats go away.

Now I want to hear your stories.

**What's something your dog has taught themselves that you absolutely did NOT intend?**

Bonus points if it's ridiculous. I suspect we've got some very talented little opportunists out there.

We finished the night with scent club, I love how these guys just embrace my creativity πŸ˜‚ we looked at problem solving, placing the source of odour in a blocked off area with only 1 way in, we then had lots of fun with suitcases and lots and lots of teeny tiny logs 😎

Then we had our Rookie Scent group, we started with teaching our indication and introduction of odour 😍

Our proof and progress course kicked off last night, this course is aimed at teenage dogs that find the world very exciting! We started working on calmness around the things they really want and pattern games. I’m looking forward to next week! 😎

Roxy ❀️ She has had a not so great start to life and is now in her new home and settling beautifully however, she is an anxious girl. People who look at her get sworn at and other dogs also get a mouthful. She is going to be doing some walk and trains with me but first we needed to become friends,. We spent some lovely time together and I’m looking forward to our training date soon 😍
