Exmoor Zoo

Exmoor Zoo Exmoor zoo only exists for the animals. Exmoor Zoo began back in 1993 with 2 staff and 10,000 visitors and has consistently grown every year since.
(1831)

The development of the zoo over time and the commitment of staff and volunteers has meant the zoo has progressed from a small farm holding of 2 Devon fields in 1982 to one of North Devon's major attractions Trees and shrubs growing today were planted back in 1994 and 95, using the central naturally fed spring lake as a focal point. Today 45,000+ people visit us annually.

💙🦘It’s a Teddy update💙🦘

We’ve now entered what feels like the toddler stage, as he investigates more items of food to eat but he’s learning how to use his legs!

When we all get home he likes to do zoomies, but just like any toddler they can get over excited so the pouch normally comes out to help him chill out, so not wear himself out too much too quick!

We’ll post a cute pouch film in a few days for you all😍

Who loves the Inca Terns?

We love their cheeky looking faces and their callings which honestly sound like they are having a good giggle!

Have you spotted ours on the lake?

Why not come up and see if you can spot and hear them on your next visit?

🌟It's Volunteers' Week, a week to appreciate and thank volunteers, as well as promote the act of volunteering!
Here at Exmoor Zoo we have some brilliant volunteers, including Ben. Some of you may have met Ben helping out the Education Department with our Encounter sessions, or on one of our Outreach visits to a school or event. He does a brilliant job.🐍
Could we ask favour? Ben is going to be doing his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expedition with his local scout group later in the year, but they need some funding. Could you donate anything to help them out?
Thank you for all your help Ben, and good luck with this challenge, we know you can conquer anything you set your mind to!

More Teddy updates, but from the youngest zoo babies helping Tina.

Teddy the Wallaby has been getting fresh grass and willow from Lucas and Evangeline daily, as well as coming up to the animal kitchens to help prepare him a selection of veggies, they have even helped clean out his hay bed at home too. But the kids have most enjoyed their wallaby wake ups as their rewards for helping.

More films to come of our lovely Teddy the wallaby

🦘💚 Another Teddy update plus his adorable poses🦘💚

He’s put on lots of weight since we began his care and is now using his big strong legs to reach for browse we hang up for him in the evenings. He is still asking for milk at night as we can hear him calling in his pouch, but hopefully the next few weeks and he’ll be able to go the night not needing milk.
