At 22 degrees by 8am it was zero walks for our furry VIPs today.

Walks got replaced with paddling pool times instead. With frozen carrots, cucumbers, lickilix and icepops served throughout the day.

Very proud of the team today. We knew the afternoon walk would be ditched due to the heat and replaced with the paddling pools, but we have some dogs who will only toilet on their walk.

So while cool enough this morning and the lane was fully shaded, all 35 dogs a very short and slow walk before 9am before chilling for the rest of the morning in lovely cool kennels.

Looking like walks are off the table completely tomorrow with a forecast of 22 by 8am.

Lots of brushing and combing, cuddles and splash time instead.

We were a disheveled bunch by 9am, as Charlie said, good job you can't smell photos! Speak for yourself 🤣

That time of year! We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Kennel and Cattery Assistants, and we have a Supervisor role vacant.

Love of animals, experience in a busy kennel environment, and Level 3 in Animal Management are essential.

The repairs and upgrades continue despite this year's weather being a nightmare and total washout for the first 3 months!

So far...
New roof on the outdoor pens
New floor
New floor in cattery entrance
New external lighting
Gate fixed
Potholes filled
Leaky tap fixed
New tap

Today the walled entrance stripped, treated and painted! Massive thanks to JN Home Improvements fabulous job!!!

To do

New specialist flooring in two of the kennels, we can get the materials just cant find a fitter 🙈
Rendering on two of the kennel blocks
New roof on the outdoor pen in front of our Isolation unit
Fixed canopies along the kennels to ensure out VIP pooches can trot to the outdoor pens while we clean their kennels nice and dry in the winter
Damaged Tiles replaced in kitchen flooring.
Revamp the cattery
New heating for Autumn
New reception to replace our poor reception that has requested early retirement.

Lots to do, let's see what we can get done!

Wow 8 years today since I moved to Noah's Ark!

So much has changed in those years, so many battles overcome, Covid lockdown, Utility Crisis, Petrol Crisis, now the Cost of Living Crisis, the omg does that wall really need painting again, you cannot be serious crisis.

But one thing stays the same, the passion. Whilst that's there, you can overcome the hurdles. A little less exhaustion would be nice but you can't have everything 🤣

Celebrations on hold as one of my cats is very poorly. Bailey has been a trooper these last three and a half years. We'll see what our vet says tomorrow.

Prepared and yet absolutely not prepared for potentially making a heartbreaking decision, and definitely hoping I'm wrong and he has more Time.
