Aston Swallownest Whites v U10 (Cup Semi)

Our U10 travelled to Aston today in the semi final of the cup. Playing a team from the division above we knew it would be a challenge. But the boys stood up and were counted.
Before kick off an impeccably observed minutes silence in respect of Archie who sadly lost his battle with cancer recently. All our thoughts with Archie’s family and friends.

Aston started the better. Scoring from a corner. This woke us up though and we replied almost instantly through Elliot who’s found his goal scoring boots this season. We found ourselves ahead not long after as a strike from Seva was turned in by Mason.
Mason then added his 2nd before the break with a powerful strike the hosts keeper couldn’t keep out.

Second half Aston applied some pressure but we looked dangerous on the break, multiple efforts repelled by the home goalkeeper as he kept his side in it. The hosts got right back in it midway through the 2nd half. Another corner turned in and a nail biting finale to follow. Seva hit the bar and a mad scramble saw the hosts clear off the line a couple of times as we couldn’t get our 2 goal cushion back.
The lads managed to see the game out though and secure a place in next weeks final. A deserved result against higher opposition.

Parents player of the match went to Mason. He caused the home side problems all game and was unlucky to not come away with a hat-trick. His direct running and link up play was key to today’s result.

Managers player went to Noah, stepping in goal in place of the injured Robbo. He created numerous chances with his kicking. His handling was great to shut down attacks and commanded his box really well for a stand in keeper.

Next up is the cup final away at Greasbrough 🏆
