☀️🐾 We know the weather has cooled down a little now… but over the last few hot days we still saw so many dogs out walking in the heat. 🥵

Please remember — if it’s hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

Hot pavements can cause painful burns in seconds and heatstroke can become very serious, very quickly. ❤️‍🩹

No dog has ever suffered from missing a couple of walks during extreme heat… but plenty have suffered from being walked when it’s simply too hot. 💔

Early mornings, late evenings, garden play, enrichment toys and indoor games are always safer options on those really hot days. 🐶💚

Please keep this in mind when the warm weather returns ☀️🐾

We know this may sound like old news — and yes, we share these reminders every single year — but that’s because the dangers of hot weather for pets are very real. ☀️🐾

Every summer, animals suffer from heatstroke, dehydration and burns from hot pavements, and sadly many of these cases are completely preventable. We’d always rather repeat ourselves than risk a pet becoming seriously ill. 💚

Here are a few simple ways to help keep your pets safe during warmer weather:

🐶 Never leave pets in hot cars — even for a minute
🧊 Offer ice treats or frozen pet-safe snacks
❄️ Use cooling mats or damp towels
🚶 Walk dogs early morning or later in the evening
💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
⚠️ Watch for signs of heatstroke including excessive panting, drooling, vomiting, weakness or restlessness
