✨ A New Collaboration! ✨

Emily & I have always believed in the power of collaboration. Our ethos has always been simple: it’s about the dog — putting their individual needs, wellbeing and happiness first. 🐾🐾

So, we’re absolutely delighted to announce that, from 1st September, we’ll be working in collaboration with the wonderful Lucy Bell of Lucy Bell Canine Behaviour.

I’ve known Lucy for many years and have always loved working alongside her. She is fantastic with dogs of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds, with a particular speciality with Collies, Huskies and Romanian rescues.

Lucy is also the founder of Roaming Dogs Rescue, so her knowledge and experience with rescue dogs is second to none. ❤️

If you’re looking for specialist behavioural support for your Collie, Husky or foreign rescue, look no further.

Emily & I are thrilled to be joining forces with Lucy to offer even more support to the dogs and families who need it.

Here’s to another fantastic collaboration because when we work together, the dog always comes first. 🐶❤️

🐾 Double trouble… what a perfect pair of Staffies! 🐾

Brother and sister were absolute superstars in today’s session, where we focused on loose lead walking. 💕🐶

We broke the exercise down into bite-sized pieces, making it easier for the handlers to become comfortable with their timing of the

cue → marker → payment (reward).

When the handler feels more relaxed and confident, the pup feels it too!

Next, we worked on helping the pups understand that good things happen when they’re with their handler. We built this up by reinforcing them for following, then marking and paying.

From there, we introduced the side step, encouraging the pups to come into position at the handler’s side. We marked the correct position and delivered the payment behind the leg. This helps keep those four paws firmly on the ground while encouraging a lovely, loose lead. 🥰

We then started putting all the pieces together, walking backwards, side-stepping into forward movement, marking the correct behaviour and delivering the payment down to the pup behind the handler’s leg.

These two did so well that we were able to introduce a movement cue: “Let’s go!” 👣

A movement cue is so important because it helps our pups and dogs understand that we are moving off together, in the same direction. It provides clear structure, communication and balance, making walks much more enjoyable for both ends of the lead. ❤️

To finish the session, we had a quick introduction to Maddie, my gorgeous Springer girl. 🐾
Maddie is such a calm and patient spaniel, making her the perfect dog for a polite and positive introduction. Both pups did brilliantly! 💕👏

What a fantastic session with this beautiful brother and sister duo! 🌟🐶🐶

Can't wait to see them again and how they have progressed

IT’S A RUFF TIME FOR DOG PROS ❤️

When it’s too hot to safely work, they put your dog first, but that often means losing their income.

Most are self-employed. No sick pay. No holiday pay. No guaranteed wage.

Then there’s fuel, insurance, CPD, equipment and all the other costs of running a responsible business. For many ethical dog pros, there really isn’t much left at the end of it.

And most won’t tell you that.

So if your dog pro has to cancel because of the heat, please support them where you can. Rebook, leave a review, recommend them or simply share their business.

They’re looking out for our dogs. Let’s look out for them too. 🐾❤️

Look at this gorgeous girl! 💕
Her new family have recently welcomed this beautiful teenage girl into their home and they’ve already recognised that, although she’s a teenager, she’s still very much a pup at heart and perhaps hasn’t had as much socialisation or learning as she may have needed.

Yesterday was so warm, so we spent the full session in a lovely cool room indoors. We chatted more about this lovely girl’s background, diet, weight, exercise, breed specific enrichment and socialisation. We also started learning about cues, markers and importantly, timing.

We worked on introducing engagement through play and movement cues.

Movement cues are so important and they’re something our dogs learn very quickly. By bringing movement and engagement together, this can assist the learner in understanding that good things happen when they’re near and engaged with their guardian.

There’s no rushing, no pressure and no expectations that she should already know everything.
We’re simply building those foundations, helping her understand what’s being asked of her and making learning fun and rewarding. 🥰

I can’t wait to see this lovely family again and watch this gorgeous girl continue to grow in confidence. ❤️

📸 I finally caught them on camera! 🐶❤️

I have to admit, I don't always get the chance to take photos of our amazing students and their pups while we're busy training. But we're now into Week 3 at Gisburn & I've finally managed to sneak a few shots of these handsome dudes... Yoshi, 'Big' Teddy, and 'Little' Teddy! 😍

They're not just incredibly gorgeous pups, they've been working incredibly hard and making fantastic progress. 💪🐾

Keep an eye on the page, because I'm hoping to share some videos soon so you can see the skills they've been learning and how far they've come!

Which of these handsome boys is your favourite? 🐶👇
