As I’ve not been able to compete much this year yet due to injury I decided to set myself another challenge instead! I’m thrilled to say I’ve passed my BHS Stage 5 (General) Coaching exam! This entailed working with and assessing combinations riding at Advanced Medium dressage, working alongside and coach educating a Stage 4 coach in a XC session and assessing and training a rider for showjumping as well as undertaking a professional discussion around coaching practice and principles. I thoroughly enjoyed my day working with some great horse and rider combinations ☺️ Huge thanks to Woodlands Training - Sarah Simpson and Rob Lovatt for their help with my prep as well as the wonderful team Yorkshire Riding Centre

Great first day working with the Para Showjumpers HQ looking at straightness, suppleness, accuracy of lines and quality of canter ready for course riding tomorrow. Huge thanks to for joining us this morning to work with all the riders - saw fabulous improvements in all the combinations and those carried through into the afternoon sessions - after all jumping is really just flatwork with some poles in the way isn’t it? 😉

New opportunities for para riders! I’m thrilled to say there is a new series of para competitions this summer and new options for riders to compete in Open sections as well as within their Grade.

We have a diverse range of para riders of varying disabilities - if you are not graded but want to find out more and discover what opportunities are out there please get in touch! There is an opportunity to get graded this summer and take part!

Para competitions for this summer are -
13th - 14th June South View Equestrian Centre, Cheshire
23rd – 26th July Weston Lawns, Warwickshire
4th – 9th August British Showjumping National Championships, Stoneleigh
28th – 31st August Weston Lawns, Warwickshire
14th – 20th September Arena UK Festival, Lincolnshire.

Classes are -
70cm – Grade I, Grade IV, and Open section
80cm – Grade II and Open section
90cm – Grade III and Open section
1m – open section

Beautiful day for the Mini Training Day today 😎 Started with flatwork sessions - I love how using helps establish relaxation of the horse’s body and mind (in the German scales of training my favourite word “losgelassenheit”) - then we used polework to address suppleness and straightness before some riders progressed to jumping applying the same principles that we established in the polework session. Thanks to for supplying fabulous food to sustain everyone as always 😁

Different office today! Loved visiting the wonderful to support a client competing in their arena eventing championships - sometimes it’s really beneficial to work with riders at a show to help with warm up techniques, course walking and/or mental skills for competition ☺️

Success is sadly not linear … I wish it was 😂 The last few years have been quite challenging with horse injury and then my own spectacular injury in January - tomorrow is key to how I progress recovery from here as I finally get given a plan of action! However in the meantime I’ve been working hard to build forward and huge thanks to my coach and mentor for longer than either of us probably care to remember - the legend that is Susie Gibson - for helping me get back in action again! More work to do but it’s a start
