Calci worms (Hermetia illucens), the larvae of the black soldier fly, are one of the few feeders that are naturally rich in calcium. They are a clean, low-odour, easy-to-keep feeder that won’t bite or climb, making them a superb everyday choice for calcium-hungry insectivores.
Uniquely among feeder insects they have a naturally favourable calcium-to-phosphorus ratio, so unlike crickets or mealworms they do not need dusting with calcium. They provide balanced protein and moderate fat as part of a varied diet.
Suitable for: a wide range of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, depending on the size you choose.
