CONTROVERSIAL? PROBABLY. TRUE? WE THINK SO.

The dog training industry has a bit of an obsession with harnesses.

Dog pulls?

"Put a harness on it."

Dog drags you into next week?

"Try this harness."

Dog nearly dislocates your shoulder?

"Have you seen our latest anti-pull harness?"

Here's our problem with that...

Harnesses were originally designed for dogs to pull. Sled dogs. Cart dogs. Working dogs. They spread force across the dog's chest and shoulders—the strongest part of its body.

So why, when your dog already pulls like a train, is the answer so often to clip yourself onto the strongest part of the dog? 🤔

At Eager Paws Dog Training, we don't reach for a harness as the first answer.

Why?

Because most dogs aren't pulling because they need different equipment.

They're pulling because they've never been properly taught not to.

We get it. People don't like seeing their dog choke itself on a collar. Neither do we. But that isn't the collar's fault... it's a sign that the dog needs teaching, not simply different kit.

Our aim is simple:

🐾 Teach the dog to walk calmly.
🐾 Teach the owner how to communicate clearly.
🐾 Build behaviour that lasts—whether the dog is wearing a collar or anything else.

Could we sell you another gadget?

Of course.

Would we rather give you the skills so you don't need one?

Absolutely.

Because real training changes dogs.

Equipment just changes what's clipped onto them.

That's why at Eager Paws, we train dogs—not just manage them.

🔥 Agree? Disagree? Let's hear it in the comments...

🤣⚖️ PRIVATE EVENT UPDATE ⚖️🤣
Tonight’s invite-only audience with your local dog trainer is still going ahead…
…but we’ve made a small operational adjustment due to the weather:
🌡️ It has officially been moved to a Zoom meeting.
Our legal team are relieved, although still requesting: 🍷 a large glass of wine and several stress balls plus a strong WiFi signal and a prayer
The core concerns remain unchanged: 🐾 Nobody knows what questions will be asked
🐾 Nobody knows what answers will come out
🐾 Sacred dog training myths are still at risk
🐾 Professionalism is still hanging by a very thin thread
🐾 And Zoom has made it easier for everyone to witness it
At this stage, the disclaimer is unchanged: The views expressed tonight may not be known to the speaker until approximately 0.3 seconds after they’ve already been said.
Good luck to all attendees.
Especially the “mute button” button.

🐾 SHOW US YOUR DOG... 🐾
But only if they're currently doing something they absolutely shouldn't be doing... 👀🤣
On the sofa?
Digging a crater in the garden?
Pretending they can't hear recall?
Guarding a stolen sock like it's the Crown Jewels?

Drop a photo in the comments and let's see who wins the "Most Unhelpful Dog of the Week" award! 🏆😂

🐾 RECALL ISN'T OBEDIENCE. IT'S A LIFE SKILL. 🐾

When most people hear the word "recall", they think of a dog training exercise.

We don't.

At EagerPaws, we see recall as one of the most important life-saving skills a dog can ever learn.

Because one day it might be the difference between your dog stopping before a road.

It might be the difference between your dog ignoring a deer, livestock or another reactive dog.

It might be the difference between a close call and a phone call nobody ever wants to make.

A reliable recall isn't about having a dog that looks obedient.

It's about having a dog that chooses you when it matters most.

It's about freedom.

Freedom to explore.

Freedom to enjoy walks.

Freedom to let your dog be a dog without constantly worrying what might happen next.

That's why our Recall Masterclass isn't just another training session.

We're not interested in teaching party tricks.

We're interested in helping owners build a level of communication, trust and reliability that can genuinely change lives.

Because every dog deserves more freedom.

And every owner deserves more confidence.

🐾 Recall isn't obedience.

🐾 Recall is safety.

🐾 Recall is freedom.

🐾 Recall saves lives.

Keep an eye on our page over the coming weeks as we prepare to launch our next Recall Masterclass.
