🚜 Harrowing week here at Little Hay Co 🌾

You’ll spot us out across the farm this week, harrowing every field. Harrowing helps loosen the top layer of soil and break up old thatch and dead matter left behind from previous cuts. It encourages seeds that dropped last season to make proper contact with the soil so they can germinate and thicken up the award, and it brings buried thatch, moss and debris up to the surface where it can be cleared away rather than smother new growth.

After months of dry ground and crossed fingers, the taps have finally opened. 🌧️
Following such a long stretch of summer drought, this rain feels like an absolute gift, and our hay is the one reaping the rewards.
Every drop is soaking down into the soil, giving the grass exactly what it needs to grow strong ahead of the next cut.
WARNING: This one involves a blooper. Turns out sprinting across the yard in a downpour is not as graceful as we hoped.
After the summer we have had, we will take it, gladly and gratefully, hay growth and all.

Bank holiday is nearly here!

Get your orders in before 1pm Friday 28th to ensure they head out before the long weekend.

All orders placed after 1pm Friday 28th will not be processed until Tuesday morning, so if your small pets are relying on you for next day delivery of their favourite hay and treats then now is the time to act.

We would recommend moving your subscription date forward if due to be shipped over the bank holiday weekend to avoid the risk of your furry friends going hungry over the weekend.

On a brighter note, all that rain has been wonderful for our fields! Our fields of silky soft hay is thriving and set to bloom beautifully over the next few weeks, ahead of autumn harvest.
While you wait for harvest, why not try one of our alternative brilliant hays with a £3 sample box.
