A warm Riada Vets welcome to four of our newest patients: Kitty, Nelson, Rigby and Mordecai! 🐶🐱

These adorable faces recently visited us for their health checks, vaccinations and plenty of cuddles from the team. We love meeting new pets and helping them get the best start on their healthcare journey.

Thank you to their wonderful owners for trusting us with their care. We can't wait to watch these little stars grow! ❤️🐾

Hi everyone, a member of the public has brought this cat in from the Kirk Road area of the town.

Unfortunately it doesn’t have a microchip so we cannot track an owner. Please share and let’s get them home again. Thanks!

🐾 Celebrating National SQP Week! 🐾

SQPs play a vital role in supporting animal health and welfare by providing expert advice on parasite control, responsible medicine use, nutrition, and preventative healthcare. Working alongside veterinary surgeons and nurses, they help ensure animal owners have access to informed guidance and appropriate products for their animals.

Did you know we have 3 SQP’s in the practice who are always happy to help and provide expert advice tailored to your pet's needs?

Registration Now Open for the Bovine Genetics Project and Genotyping Scheme 🐄

The Bovine Genetics Project is open to all cattle keepers in Northern Ireland, including both breeding and finishing enterprises. The project aims to support genetic improvement across the beef and dairy sectors by providing farmers with access to valuable genetic information that can help improve herd performance, inform breeding decisions, and support a more sustainable and profitable future for the industry.

While registration for the Genotyping Scheme is now open, farmers should note that genotyping activity under the scheme will commence from 1 September 2026.

Click the link below to register or give us a call if you have any questions about the scheme.

Sustainable Ruminant Genetics (SRG NI) delivers the Bovine Genetics Project (BGP) to help Northern Ireland farmers improve cattle genetics.

⚠️ Please take extra care during the warm weather

Dogs cats and other small furries can quickly become unwell in warm weather, especially during walks, travel, or time outdoors.

Some pets are more at risk, including flat-faced breeds, older pets, overweight animals, and those with medical conditions.

Heatstroke is a medical emergency and can become life-threatening very quickly.
If you are worried about your pet, contact us immediately for advice or emergency care.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly from all at Riada Vets.

🐾 We have seen an increase in ticks with the warmer weather, meaning your pets are at greater risk when out on walks or playing in grassy areas.

It’s important to check your pet’s regularly, especially in these common areas and ensure your tick prevention treatments are up to date.

If you find a tick, remove it carefully with a tick remover or contact us for advice.
