Dog hazards this autumn 🐶🍂
🍄 Mushrooms & fungi – Curious dogs may be tempted to sniff or eat mushrooms while out exploring. Some can be highly toxic, so keep a close eye on your dog and prevent them from eating anything unfamiliar.
🌰 Conkers & acorns – These can cause stomach upsets and, if swallowed, may cause an obstruction. Keep an eye out for them on autumn walks!
🍂 Fallen leaves & garden waste – Rotting leaves and plant material can harbour moulds and bacteria, while some plants and bulbs can be poisonous if eaten.
🕯️ Candles & cosy fires – As we spend more time indoors, remember to keep candles, fires and heaters safely out of reach of curious noses and paws.
🚗 Dark evenings – With the nights drawing in, visibility becomes especially important. Consider using reflective collars, leads or coats and keep your dog visible when walking near roads.
🎆 Fireworks - Many dogs show signs of stress when exposed to fireworks. And not only that, fireworks can scare dogs into running onto busy roads.
